curragh Camp marraige cert?

Welcome to Rootschat. Members of the Anglican community worshipped at the St Pauls Garrison Church http://www.esatclear.ie/~curragh/stpauls.htm I cannot think of an obvious explanation for a line being drawn through Mary Toughers details.

I know that Tougher truck stop Billiejo. I worked with Hoffmans American Three Ring Circus and also their Russian Circus which toured Ireland several times. I was with the advance unit. We parked our caravans there and used it as our base for a few days when we were putting posters in the shops in the area. Is there still a pleasant hotel close to the truck stop..on the same side of the road..within walking distance..a couple of minutes walk

That was called the 'Red House' and afraid it burned to the ground a couple of years ago.  Luckily no fatalities.

hi i am a new member today, and i need help with a marraige cert i obtained from 1837 overseas. My g/grandfather born Liverpool was married at the Roman catholic chapel Newbridge to Mary tougher on 18th Sept 1881 they must of moved to India straight after because 3 of the 4 children were born in Dum Dum. the problem i have is the Marriage cert only has info on the groom there is a line through the brides details and i only know her name because of the entry at the bottom saying "this marriage was solomised between us signed William Hogan & Mary Tougher" is there any way to find a full cert with Marys details on? and why would they not be added? is this because the army would have no need of her info?would they have married on site or in a local church?i am at a loss with this one and cannot move on  ???Please advise!!!!!....mo-jo

I am fairly certain that the Marriage cert details have no relation to army protocol. I notice that the chaple you mention is in Newbridge. This is about 3 miles outside the camp. The RC facilities are indeed very old and I sadly forget the names albeit I will seek the answer and inform at a later time. 
I am certain that the bride would have been from the town as the custom back then was for the lady to be married in HER home town, following three consequetive 'Banns readings' in church.
I think the manager of the 'Whitewater Hotel' formally the 'Grand Hotel' (Main St. Newbridge, Co Kildare, Eire)  is the address, &  JUST MIGHT have some info that could help. I believe he is interested in this topic and his family have been there for generations. Has to be worth a try.

Thanks to everyone for their kind advice, i have sent a copy of the cert to someone who said they would look the records up for me, that was in march, he hasn't replied and i feel cheeky emailing him again, do you think i should of offered a payment?I think maybe i am just too impatient, billiejo i will write to the address you have mentioned as i am 100% sure mary Tougher was a local girl as i have searched all the english records and can find no trace of her only william before marriage and then the both of them afterwards,do you think that  bieng illegitimate (williams parents married after having 4 children)could have some baring on the way the marriage was registered? maybe marys parents wanted nothing to do with her, and refused to have their names on the cert, just a thought, i will keep you informed on any out come...thanx again..mojo

All Curragh Camp marriages are registered at the Naas office.

Thanks billie-jo, i sent off an email and the person had not even recieved my cert(all that waiting) so i have re sent it last week, and the waiting starts again, if i don't recieve any joy i will look down other avenues.. thanks again for your help and advice, i will post any news as soon as i get it....mo-jo

the entry for both William Hogan and Mary Tougher have the same code (when you hover the cursor over "view") ... 410825 ...
so I think it's pretty certain that it's the same marriage

Thanks for bringing this back into my mind, i couldn't obtain a cert as my card wasn't listed

i went off down another branch and so of forgot about this,(didn't realise how long ago it was) can postal orders  be paid for Irish certs?
