WINTER/BOSIER Marriage - Amersham
« on: Thursday 23 March 06 20:54 GMT (UK) »
Please could anyone with access to the parish records for Amersham look up the marriage of Richard Winter and Martha Bosier 26.1.1789.  I'm wondering if it says they were 'out of parish' or the like.  I'm wondering if Richard was from Yorkshire.  Any help much appreciated.   Julie

Hi Julie,

You've probably already sorted this by now, but, if not:-

Richard Winter from Burnham married Martha Bosier in Amersham 26 Jan 1789 by licence.

This is from a CD of marriage transcriptions. It doesn't say where Martha is from.

I don't know if this helps or not - just because Richard was living in Burnham when they married doesn't necessarily mean that he didn't come from Yorkshire.

As it was a marriage by licence, perhaps you would learn more if you could get hold of a copy of the licence?

I have just finished transcribing the Amersham marriages from the film Fiche and they usually say if they are out of parish. There is nothing against either name.

I will check when I go on Tuesday. I could have missed it I suppose. Transcribing nearly 2,500 marriages can get tedious. That is why I like to break them up by doing ad hoc look ups.

 :(

Yes you are right and I am wrong, Richard was of Burnham. I checked my notes and I did write it down but just missed it off the transcription. Guess I'll have to check them all.
