Hi Sharon,
This is not so much help for your quest, more a couple of points of interest. I was under the impression that I had a "Huxtable" in my family tree. If I remember correctly it was George Huxtable Davie. It turned out that he was a bud on a twig on a small branch etc, so I did not follow it up. In the course of finding out that he was "not close enough", I visited A small village in North Devon Called Swimbridge.
It is about five miles from Barnstaple. In the small Churchyard there I found a whole load of Huxtables buried. They, and a family called Yeo make up a large percentage of the graves in the churchyard.
Swimbridge is mildly famous because of a hunting vicar they had there in bygone years.
His name was Russell and it was he that bred the Jack Russell terriers and got them recognised as a breed, by the kennel club.
The pub in the village is called The Jack Russell.
This is on line, together with photo,s of the church, (Google "Swimbridge North Devon UK").
The little village next to Swimbridge is Chittlehampton. I understand that the Yeo's and the Huxtables were the "reigning families" of these two villages and were respected throughout North Devon.
Well, I have used a lot of words but I haven,t told you much. I do hope that what I have said is of some interest to you. Good luck with your future searching. feel free to get back to me any time. regards, Mick (Davie).
