1841 look-up for Ri(e)ley in Newcastle

Hi

I am trying to help another poster on the Staffordshire board and I could really do with a look up for Andrew & Olive Riley (or Reilly) who should be in Newcastle in 1841 - according to the birth places of their children - he was born about 1802 in Ireland and she about 1814 in Staffordshire so both out of county - they had Elizabeth born 1840 and John born 1847 both in Newcastle before moving to Gateshead - please can anyone help

Hi Debbie,i think your friend will already have this info as its 1851 census and not 1841.
Andrew Riley head age 49 born ireland 1802
Olive Riley wife age 37 born Staffordshire 1814
Eliza Riley daughter born Scotland 1836
Elisabeth Riley daughter born Newcastle 1840
John Riley son born Newcastle 1847
Maryann Riley daughter born Gateshead1849
Andrew Riley son born Gateshead 1850
District of Saint Marys Gateshead.
It looks like they could have been in Scotland in 1841 as thats where their oldest child Eliza was born.I have no access to Scotland census but try posting on the Scottish board.Good luck.Anne.

Thanks for that - yes we did already have that one, we were wondering who was with the household in 1841.  I think they should be in Newcastle as although the eldest was born 1838 in Scotland they had a child in 1840 in Newcastle and another in 1847.  We will just have to wait for either Ancestry or Origins to get it on-line I suppose

Andrew and Olive Riley nee Simcock are my gggrandparents.
Olive born 1807-15 Caverswall Staffs...no birth/baptism record as yet found. Fathers name Richard Simcock.
Her Son Joseph born and dies in Caverswall oct (?) in1833.
1835 Olive marries her first husband Lawrence Anthony ( widower)in Manchester. Eliza their daughter is born in Edinburgh 1836. Lawrence dies ( date unknown to me). Olive marries her 2nd husband Andrew Reilly in 1838 in Manchester. Andrew is a soldier in 5th Dragoon Guards. After his discharge from the army in 1846 at York barracks they go to live in Gateshead/Newcastle until Olives death in 1867 from typhoid. Andrew moves to Stockton on Tees where their daughter Letitia Riley/Darragh ( my ggrandmother)and their son Thomas are living.
Andrew dies in jan 1881 in Stockton.
I have more information regarding their family if required. I too have been unable to find them on 1841 census. I have the movements of his regiment at this time and he could be anywhere in the midlands or north.One regiment has been sent to Ireland so who knows??
