Hi

Think I've found Olive's baptism under SYNCOCK as transcribed on www.familysearch.org (IGI)

Baptism of Oliver Syncock at Caverswall  25/9/1814 - mother Lettice SYNCOCK no mention of Richard though.

Cheers
Graham

Thank you so much. It is Olive Simcock that I am looking for.
I had wondered that if her birth was around 1815 then Hannah could not be her mother as she would be too old. Olive names Richard Simcock as her father on both her marriage certificates.Lettice was the daughter of Richard and Hannah Simcock, so Richard was her grandfather. It looks like her grandparents may have brought her up.
Letitia was my mothers name ( born 1910)and every generation of Olive Simcocks descendents  has had at least one and sometimes 2 Letties or Letitias in it. I was surprised that she had named none of her daughters after Hannah - her supposed mother.
I am so delighted you have found this.
She ran away with a soldier ( Lawrence Anthony)and seems to have had no further contact with her relatives in Caverswall. They married in 1835 in Manchester, and had a daughter, Eliza. She was widowed and then married my Gggrandfather Andrew Reilly in 1838. According to family tales her Caverswall family were advertising in the Northern newspapers for information as to her whereabouts, and this link had some connection with the pottery industry.I could not find any connection with the pottery industry at all as Richard was a farmer. I found Lettice about 6 weeks ago ( sibling so I thought). Lettice Simcock and her subsequent family lived in Fenton & worked in the pottery industry.
Thank you all for your help,
Angela.
