William Kerr/Margaret Fleming
« on: Sunday 19 March 06 06:29 GMT (UK) »
Hi, does anyone have these names in their tree. Been my brickwall for years. Don't know anything about William & Margaret exept they had 3 children that I know of in Bathgate  early 1800's. Marion, William & Alexander. Could be more. Any help appreciated.
Hilary.

Hi Joe, no, the Alexander you have found is not mine. Mine was born about 1807? Have found him on census details. Just cannot find parents, William Kerr/Margaret Fleming,  deaths or anything. Many thanks for looking anyway. :)
Hilary.

I can add another child to the family: Peter Kerr, born about 1809 in Torphichen, resided in Bathgate, died 1893 in Stirling. Death Cert. gives parents as William Kerr and Margaret Fleming.

Thanks, Joe. Yes, that's him. From the 1871 census onwards he appears in Stirlingshire.

Hi Joe & Rhonda, firstly I am so sorry for the delay in replying to you both but been off the internet for 6mths. I have now found my William & Margaret on the census, thought were both dead by 1841. There is another child to this pair as well, Janet Kerr, born in Linlithgow @ 1816. If you follow her on the census, both William & Margaret are there on 41 census but only William on 51 census. Can follow Janet up to 91 census, although she is mistranscribed on 61 census as surname Ren, have tried to find her death but failed so far. I am assuming that William died between 1851-1855. On 51 census it looks like it says on image off S.P. born in Binnie & blind. Mistranscription on Ancestry.
Is Peter related to you Rhonda.
Many thanks to you both for your input.
Hilary. x
