Hi, I was looking down Root Chat when I saw the name Wildgoose.
I am going back to 1870 when Charlotte Rhodes who lived in Brampton gave birth to a son who she named  Arthur Wildgoose, Charlotte was not wed at that time, then three years later she gave birth to my Grandfather Walter again not wed, Both my daughter in-law and my self have been looking for the father of both Arthur and Walter for a long time.
So, the D in-law came up with, did charlotte give Arthur the middle name of his father, so we have looked every where even the bastardy bond, found nothing, so we are looking for any help at all.
So this is my question, is it possible that you had a relation called Richard Wildgoose who in the 1871 census lived at Brampton age 24 sadly already married who might have known Charlotte who was born 1847 which made her 24 years of age also.
Please, forgive me for surgesting that Richard if a relation got on his bike, but you might know something which could help, many thanks THOS.

The father of both Arthur Wildgoose Rhodes and Walter Rhodes was Richard Cotton Wildgoose and you are quite right Richard was married to another. Have a look at my A Gaggle of Geese website and, please,  email me.

Do you know how I can reply to Thos Rhodes?  Pels came up with two possibilities for our g(g) grandfather.   Word of mouth from our side of the family is that the less obvious is actually the more likely.  Thos is a distant cousin unknown until I came to this website and am quite frustrated there is a lock against his name and no 'reply' option on his posts.
