Hi, i'm researching my Maxwell family tree my gt gt gt grandfather was Thomas Maxwell who lived & worked at Allanton Mill Dunscore from the 1840's until his death in 1882.He married Agnes Maxwell in 1839 in Barr and had 16 children.I'm trying to find out if Agnes was his cousin,as most families tended to inter marry especially when they wanted to protect their lands etc. Also i'm sure we follow the line of the Earl's of Nithsdale but i can't find any definate proof. Please can anyone help
kind regards Elaine

Hi Elaine just found your enquiry about Thomas Maxwell. My Grt. Grt. Grandma was Mary Maxwell and she had a brother Thomas born about 1842. Their father was a Thomas Maxwel too. Is this of any help? Isabella
