Well, if your Job is the son of Thomas and Mary, I'll probably have some records for them in my little store. I think it's cert time now Piffy :)

I have just phoned to order a birth certificate for the Oswestry Mary. But they  only do it by post and you just get a recorded message. so it would be a week at least until I find out if this is the right Mary.
I will send for the marriage certificate though. because the chances of a Job Edwards marrying a Mary from Lyanymynech just before the first child was born also named Mary seem pretty conclusive?

Well, we don't know for  100% sure that Mary Tunley is the Mary Williams but the only way is to get the certificate.

Hi Piffy

I expect you'll be on soon :)

I've been looking at my 'stuff'. There seem to have been 2 Thomas and Mary Edwards having children baptised in Chirk - one pair living at Wern Weston, in ST Martins parish, Shropshire and one pair obviously working at Chirk Castle. Eitehr could be the parents - or someone else entirely. Wern Weston is near the pub where Job eventually settled and Bronygarth, where Job was in 1841, and Chirk Castle estate have links ??? There's a possible Thomas and Mary Edwards on the 1851, Weston Rhyn (same place as Wern Weston really) - Thomas, aged 60, born Nantyr (beyond Glynceiriog) and Mary, 62, born Llansantfraid (? Glynceiriog or other).

I've also found a possible Edward and Elizabeth Williams in 1841 in Llanymynech but can't find them in 1851.

I think we should now wait for your certificates to arrive - mustn't jump the gun  ;)

Apparently the Oswestry Office is no longer available for the issuing of Copy Certificates. You will have to get them from the Shrewsbury Office.

I was a bit suspicious William, because I tried a while ago and was referred by some people on 'another channel' to Shrewsbury.
I've filled in my order form, posted about a fortnight ago but not received anything yet - but it was a 'search and cert if poss' request. Cousin DS and I are getting desperate to find our Catherine Stokes death record. She died Pontfaen/Bronygarth after the 1841 census and before 1851 - she might have remarried but :-\ I've searched 1837 ONline for both deaths and marriages for those years and my cousin has looked through all the parish record films for St Martins, Selattyn, Llangollen, Pontfadog, Glynceiriog and I've checked Chirk. They were staunch methodists but, at that time, a death cert would have been needed for burial  :'( :'( :'(
