hello again! I have checked the possible matches for the father's name and Found 3 Job Edwards marriages so far.
The one in 1842 in Oswestry Which Gadget felt was too early because Mary was only 1 in 1851.
so I did a thorough search for any Job Edwards marriages between 1846 and 1850.
There is one in 1846 in Merthyr Tydfil (hope that was splelled right) and one in 1850 (Jul-sep) Wrexham.
and two Mary Edwards born oct-dec 1850 one in Wrexham and one in Oswestry.
I then looked up both marriages on free bdm and  (though I know it's not complete!) the only marriage with a Mary as a possible partner is the 1850 one in Wrexham. I went on the wrexham site, and that told me the partner to Job in 1850 was Mary Turnley.

I tell you the way I got there because you chaps can tell me if I went wrong or how to do it better.

And you are right Lloydy. Oswestry is in Shropshire. it just that my origional search was in Wales and I am just too silly to think to move  :-[  ! next post I start will be in the Shropshire section. sorry. ;D

Hi Piffy - Quite a lot of that bit of Denbighshire was in the Oswestry Reg District at the time. It even changed in my life time. My parents where married in Chirk, Denbighshire in 1931- registered under Oswestry. I was born Chirk, Denbighshire in 1945 - registered under Wrexham.

I'd give the oswestry records Office a ring and ask about the 1850 Mary - Just say her father was a Job Edwards and mother Mary. If that is so, order from them direct for £7.

The marriage in 1850 was Ruabon, St. Mary.  hhmm! I shall have to hang on till payday, but will phone them and order it if it is the right one.  ......  Why didn't I take up stamp collecting??  :-\

Piffy

It's very possibly Ruabon - some of my ancestors married there and in Rhosymedre (near by), I think to avoid prying eyes ;)

You'll have to get the marriage from Wrexham and the birth from Oswestry though.

I've got some  stuff on Black Park Colliery. My grt grandfather, grandfather and father and their brothers worked there at various times.

The Marriage of Job Edwards and Mary Tunley was listed in the Hayes Marriage Index for Ruabon in 1850.Job's Father's name is given as a Thomas Edwards. However Mary Tunley's Father is listed as Edward Williams, which seems strange to say the least!

Well she was either illegitimate or a widow when she married - did it give her marital status, William?

and;:
I might have found him :-\

In my restless, tired state, i thought of the Edwards/Chirk/Coal mining connection and looked at the Chirk records.
I've found a Job Edwards, bpt 23 Feb 1812 (born 8th) son of Thomas and Mary.

Gadget :)

So that looks not too bad at all Piffy ;)
 Good one William ;D

Hi Piffy

Re your possible Mary Tunley. I noticed that she was born Llanymynech, Shropshire. A search on the IGI shows a Mary Williams, b. 25 Nov 1820, bpt. 10 Dec 1820, Llnaymynech. Father was Edward Williams and mother, Elizabeth  :)
I couldn't find a previous marriage for her and a Tunley though :(
