Henry Knott Cleobury Mortimer
« on: Wednesday 15 March 06 13:52 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone have access to the parish records for Cleobury Mortimer.

I'm looking for info..baptism records, marriage records etc for Henry Knott born about 1818 in Cleobury Mortimer.  His wife was Mary and she was from LLANDRINDOD WELLS Powys Wales.

Their first son also Henry was born about 1839 in Cleobury Mortimer but their next son John was born about 1842 in Bromsgrove.

I'm looking for more info prior to 1818.

Is there just the one church in Cleobury Mortimer?  and does it have records available for viewing by visitors?

... and according to 1861 and 1871, he is Henry M Knott indeed  :D
(but his wife is a Martha  ???  in 1861 and by 1871 he's married to an Ann born Dawley)

Lloydy,
Thanks for the lookup offer.....I'll sort out exact details and post them on the lookup board.

Tati,

That looks like the right people.  Henry Knott was married to Mary Ann so this could explain the Martha and then the Ann.  As far as we can tell her maiden name was Rogers.

I think he was married several times...

September 1838 - Henry M Knott to Mary Ann Rodgers
December 1855 - Henry Mayne Knott to Martha Dodd
December 1866 - Henry M Knott to Ann Gough

I myself am looking into the Knotts at Cleobury Mortimer my Great Great Grandfather James Mayne Knott(Born 1844) had a brother called Henry Mayne Knott (one of 7 children including Harriet M Knott/Thomas M Knott/Sarah M Knott/John M Knott/and a Richard Mayne Knott named after his father and grandfather!)Richard Mayne Knott their father was born in 1814 and married to Caroline Marie. Therefore this is to early for your date of 1818.

However Richard Mayne Knott (born 1814) had many other siblings but I only know about his brother John, and I also know about his father called Richard(just to make it easy!) Knott(Born 1789) It is possible that the Henry Knott you are looking for was one of the other children of this Richard Knott who married Evelyn Mayne in 1813.

Richard Knott's father was a Farmer and a Cooper born 1762 and that is where my records stop.Whilst Evelyn was the only daughter of Sir William Mayne and Lady Evelyn, Evelyn Mayne (the daughter) had a brother who went on to become a senior figure under Peel in the early Police Force -Sir Richard Mayne).

Hi,

In the early days of Worcestershire Constabulary there were a couple of Knotts -

Joseph Knott who joined in 1840 aged 21

Richard Knott who joined in 1859 aged 21

If you are interested please let me know,

Regards

Richard
