Hi all, I was looking around for war memorial stuff today and Doug I found your site which I have to say is excellent. Unfortunately none of my rellies on there, except maybe one?

Willow did you ever find anything on Samuel Hilton? I haven't seen anything. Might help if my dad finds those medals!

Matthew Ralph's medal card says:

South Staffs reg, private 3618 and then..
Worcs reg, private, 39919

is this the same person in 2 regiments?

If it is, then he's on the cwgc site:
died 31/10/1916, Serre Rd Cemetery no.2, Somme, France.

Doug I saw on your site on heath park memorial an M J Ralph wondered if that's connected.

What happened to James Ralph (Matthew's brother) in the Staffords?

Either way, seems the names didn't bring much luck as Matthew and James' nephew was my great uncle James Matthew Kendrick b1904 Wolverhampton.

He died aged 36 on 11/01/1941 in Croydon, civilian war casualty. Couldn't find anything on him on Doug's site either, but I'm not really too clued up on how/where/when people were commemorated.

I haven't been able to find anything on Joseph at all. If there is a Matthew Ralph listed as in the Staffords that one is probably ours because William my grandfather also served in the Staffords (I dont mean Joseph I mean Samuel! Brain not working 2night)

I haven't found anything yet for James

That makes 8 rellies that were lost in the 2 world wars

The camps shrapnel barracks and royal horse infirmary, Charlton, London.

James Ralph 21 Driver, royal field artilery. W-ton, Staffs.

Arrrrrrrrrrrgh another infamous brain bleed LOL. :D

Btw someone just e-mailed me an image from 1851 for Hannah Boffy (Harriet Mears/James Mears sis) but my pc is buggered so I can't see it.

Maybe I can e-mail you it and you can transcribe what it says? I AM BLIIIIIIND! *laughs*

Just found on 1837 site on the overseas deaths

Cpl Samuel Hilton 6429 1917 S.R. (this lists the regiment - Staffordshire Regiment?) Vol I.10 Page 43

Now has anyone any idea how to get this information? Scrap that - just ordered it from the GRO. Hurry up postie!!!

1st Battalion Cameronians (Scottish Rifles)
Born- Middlesborough
Enlisted- Bradford
Residence- Halifax
Killed in Action 4/11/17 France & Flanders.

The information from the Gro will just give name,regiment and that he was killed in action.
