first regiment of foot guard

can anyone shed any light on this regiment for me?  an ancestor of mine served in this regiment and was in Spain at the time of his daughter's birth in about 1810-12,he was from Hart, Co Durham, his name William Kelly, this is all I know about him and would like to know a little more, but am unable to trace his birth etc, though have found him on later censuses living with his daughter

Have a read of this page,just scroll down to Enlisted Men's Service Records and it'll give you a good idea of the type of records that were kept by the army,most of which can be found at the National Archives in Kew.

he was fighting in the peninsular war against bony,looks like he took his family on campaign with him,mack
military history,mainly ww1,manchester pals battalions,tyneside irish +tyneside scottish brigades,leeds,liverpool,accrington,birmingham,hull,barnsley,swansea and salford pals.
