Hello Pughy,

Have checked for Joseph Nield marriages, none exactly right for the dates but:
married Martha Edge 19 Oct 1749 by banns, Tarvin St Andrew
married Margarett Dutton 8 Apr 1751 by banns, Tarvin St Andrew
married Elizabeth Price 18 Apr 1763 at Chester St Bridget
married Christian Perry 25 Apr 1794 at Tarvin St Andrew

Nothing on the index for Ambrose.

Nothing for a Samuel Parsonage within the right timescales.

I know that it could be Jane as that has now come up in the 1841 census.  We have William's Will which mentions his son Joseph and grandaughter Jane daughter of his deceased son John that is all.   He is a widower!

I have requested a  Will of John WOOD Brereton died in 1824.   He is on the grave inscription at Brereton.  There is an Admon for Mary WOOD wife of William, so I have requested a copy of that too.

Thank you for helping me!  I am very grateful.

Chris

My GGgrandfather is reputed to have been married in Ince, most likely at St James P.C in 1778.  Their children were baptised there.

Thomas Clough to Anna ??

Both recordered as living at Church house Ince, I learn that there were four house together each called Church House.

Thanks

Hi Ian,

There is no Thomas Clough on my index married in that timescale.  If you are pretty sure of the year and that the marriage was at Ince you could email Cheshire Records Office and ask if they could check the parish record film for you: recordoffice@cheshire.gov.uk

Do you know that Anna was from Ince, most marriages took place in the bride's parish.

Now there's a thought!
Spent months worrying this one as my advice was Thomas (certainly Ince) married Anna ?? of Church House but maybe it was Thomas at Church House. That is confirmed by 1841 & 1851 census.

I guess I now wait for a miracle to get Anna's surname. I'll just sit and wait for it!

Thanks for your help

Ian,

Is Anna on the 1851 or had she died before then?  If she was you should be able to get her place of birth but of course her family could have moved.  Were all the children born Ince, if not that might give you a clue if Anna wasn't from Ince.

Might still be worth an email to the records office.....

Jean

Sorry the date of 1778 for the marriage was incorrect.  I have found the original email I got giving me Clough details and the date 1778 got mixed up in transit and had m. Anna next to it!

It appears that 1778 was Thomas's birth year.

Checking 1841 shown as Ann as born in county and 55
1851 shown as Anne has her born in Ince and 68 ! Maybe she wasn't too hot at arithmetic!

However children's ages from the two census confirm who she is.

The oldest child William was baptised Jan 16th 1820 so I guess now that Thomas and Anna/Hannah were married 1818/19

I would appreciate it if you could try the revised timeframe.

I have held off the records office as when I previously had a look I saw a search would cost 20 pounds minimum.

Thanks

Hi Ian,

Nothing in the revised timescale on my index either I'm afraid.  CRO charge by the hour for research, but it may be worth emailing them - if you have the correct year, and it sounds as if the marriage was at Ince they may do a look up for you.  The cost of a photocopy is small if you wanted one.
