Hi Peter,

I wondered if you could have a look for a marriage for me please.  I am looking for the marriage of Thomas Bann (Band) and his wife Sarah.  I am unable to locate their childs birth certificate so am trying a different angle, hence the reason for not knowng Sarah's maiden name.  The 1851 census is all I have of the couple in question - I hope you can help, best wishes Vanda.

1851 Census
8 Houses, Woodford Lane, Poynton, Cheshire
Thomas Bann - Head - mar - 31 - coal miner - Cheshire Poynton
Sarah Bann - Wife - Mar - 25 - Derbyshire, Sudbury
John Bann - Son - 6 - Cheshire, Worth

Hi Vanda

Again no sign of a Cheshire marriage, as Sarah was born in Derbyshire its more than likely that is where they married, if they married at all.

Hi Sue

Still can't find a marriage for them, the 1851 census shows that Mary was born in Audlem so I cant understand why they were not married there, if indeed they did marry. A marriage could also have been at Wrenbury whose indexes I have up to 1837 but are a little patchy.

just in case you don't have it here is the 1851 census

HO107-2170-FOLIO 387  King Street Audlem

Joseph 45 ag lab Audlem
Mary 45
Hannah 14
Eliza 12
William 10
Sarah 8
Thomas 5
John 1
William Griffiths 21 visitor Audlem

the only thing I can suggest is that you obtain a copy of one of the childrens birth cert, this will show mums maiden name and maybe help to find the marriage.

good luck

Death likey to have been near Stretford Trafford, Bowdon, Hale, Chorlton. Most likely buried at Chorton. St Clements.
Sorry about being so vague, but can't seem to find the needle in the haytstack.
   Thanks for any help.                                  Rumplestiltskin

Peter,

Could you please check for a marriage for a John McQueed (McQuade) to Esther, pre 1803.   I have a birth for a son Charles in 1803 in Warrington.

Hi Spurr

The Warrington registers pre 1837 would most likely be published by Lancashire FHS, THAT IS IF THEY HAVE BEEN PUBLISHED, they don't appear in any of my Cheshire indexes.

try posting this request again on the Lancashire board
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/board,21.0.html

sorry can't help

Hi

Cant help with this one sorry, you will have to search the General BMD indexes, this can be done for free at http://www.ancestry.co.uk/ you may have to sign up for a free trial.
The indexes are also kept at Manchester and many local libraries.

Hi,
could you please look up a marriage between Edward Ellis and Lydia, i dont know her surname. The marriage will probably have taken place some time between 1830 and 1838 in the Macclesfield/Prestbury area.
I would really be interested in learning Lydia's surname.
Many Thanks
Marie
