Hi,
I am looking for traces of William and Esther POWELL of Greasby, William was a farm labourer and they had children Mary b.1808, b.William 1810. Their son Thomas b.1815 later went to live at Hillview Farm West Kirby. I also have another son William b.1818. Any information would be welcome, thanks

Hi
The only marriage I can find is 27/April/1805 at St Peters Liverpool between William Powell and Ester Clark, it would not be unusual for a couple from the Wirral to wed in Liverpool.
This was found in the IGI index http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=igi/search_IGI.asp&clear_form=true

1851 census HO107-2174-F133  West Kirby

William Powell sen Head 78 farmer 8 acres born West Kirby
Esther                    wife 72
William                    son 32
Ellen                 daug/i/law 27  Woodchurch
Esther               daug 28  West Kirby
Margaret         g/daug 3

You will find both their births in the Cheshire PR at West Kirby
William 1773 look under Powel with one L, and Esther Clark 1779.

regards

Thanks Peter, I went to the central library last night and checked the wedding in the church records but it said labourer of this parish and Esther the same parish so wasn't sure if it could be the same couple.  I has been looking for William's birth and had no success but did find a burial in 1871 on 6th Feb aged 98 so that was him! I will request for someone to check the 61 and 71 census now to see what happened to the farm, I assume young Will and family continued to live there until it was overrun with a housing estate, Hillview Ave marks it's demise (I checked on an 19C map last night).  Meanwhile more searching!

Hi,

Have been looking for a marriage forever and this is probably a long shot.  John Jackson (born Lymm) married Ann/Anna/Anne/Annie Cowsill (born Lymm) c. 1854, both born c. 1823/24.  I believe both resided in Lancashire in the 1850 time frame.  I may have found John in 1841 and 1851, but I have doubts on the entries.  Ann/Anne/etc. has not been found until 1861.   They do not appear on the indexes for any year.  I hired a researcher who has assured me their marriage doesn't appear in the Lymm parish registers.  I know their births are both entered, but nothing else.

If you could look and see if there is anything, anywhere for a John Jackson/Ann Cowsill marriage, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Judy
I am sorry but my email address is no longer working.

Hi Judy
I can find nothing in any of the Cheshire BMD indexes for the marriage, did they actually marry, or had Annie been married before and so married with another name ?

Hello Chris

I wonder if you could find the marriage of Susannah Brooke to ? Stevenson in Malpas or possibly Harthill. Don't have an exact year but probably around the 1760s.

Thanks very much!

Sue :)

I am hoping you may have the marriage of George Rosedale to Frances Wynne in Shotwick c1790 on your records disc.
Any information about either would be greatly received.

Hi Lorrie

Yes the marriage is indexed but it gives no other details than St Michaels 13/9/1790.
If you send an email to the RO at the address on the link below and give them the details you have it will not take them many minutes to look up the original.
