Hi and thank you for the offer of look ups.

Are there any marriages for Broughton or any mis-spellings such as Brewerton/ Brearton/ Bruton etc. for Wilmslow or Prestbury please.

Thank you in anticipation.
Best Regards from Colin

Hi Colin,

It isn't possible to do blanket lookups for a surname but I'd be happy to look if you can post requests for specific individuals.

Sorry Kate,

No matches for those dates or a Samuel anywhere on the index.

Hi Elsby,

There is this one:

Wm ELSBY, lab m Ellen SMALLWOOD, sp 6 May 1817 at Sandbach.

There is no further information given on the index, but you are unlikely to get much more from the parish record as parents names weren't recorded - although they may be witnesses.  You could order a copy of the parish register entry from Cheshire Records Office online for a small fee.

Hope this helps,

Jean

Hello,

I've only just stumbled across this board, so I'm not entirely sure how this offer to look up marriages works, but...

I've recently hit a bit of a brick wall. I'm looking for a John Bradbury (or Bredbury) born circa 1760 who married a Hannah. Her surname might be Sidebottom. He is from the Hyde/Newton area so they probably married at Mottram, sometime around 1780. The only problem is that there are a lot of John Bradburys knocking around at that time and an equal number of Hannah Sidebottoms. I've so far managed to find three John Bradburys and Hannahs/Anns (no surnames given, annoyingly) who could fit the bill and a John who married an Ann Sidebottom in 1778, but their son's baptism record definitely gives the mother's name as Hannah, not Ann. The Sidebottom bit I'm guessing at since their son named his first child Sidebottom Bradbury (what a wonderful name!).

Any help you can give would be hugely appreciated.

Thank-you,
David
