Hi Curtis,

There isn't much information about for dates as early as this.  I have checked my indexes but there are no leads there.  It seems very close on dates for George to have been born 1684 and married Ellin who then died in 1700/01 - also, Didsbury is in Lancashire, now a suburb of Manchester.  Can I ask what leads you to Tilston for the marriage?  And do you know if George and Ellin had any children born/baptised in England?

Sorry for all the questions  :)

Jean

Jean, George & Ellen did have children, this is how we are related, George had two children, one boy George jr, and one daughter, Martha. When Ellen died we believe Shorty after, George sr. came to Virginia, US. We have a will from George sr, and can trace from there to the current timeline.
We just don’t have any info before George and Ellen, and who was George's father and mother we only can guess, and believe that Gorge's father might be Hugh William Hulme b.1634 wife Elizabeth (massey) or (Massaiz) Hulme b.1638?, children were, Robert, Hugh, George, and a unknown child. BUT we have nothing that confirms this. That is where we are stuck. We believe that George was born in Tilston, England, that is the only connection.
Here is another loop.
We also believe a William Hulme b. 1670 was somehow related to George, both came to Virginia, US and died there in the same county in VA. But we cannot tie the two together.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Curtis

I think that the only option is to find your local LDS centre and go through the Tilston parish records although it isn't clear how you have found the Tilston connection.  Were George jun and Martha baptised in Cheshire?  Tilston and Didsbury are some distance apart so the connection isn't obvious.  I have had a look at the records I have access to and can't find any further leads for you.

Sorry I can't be of more help, but will bear it in mind when researching.

Hi wozwoz and welcome to Rootschat.

I have had a look and can't see a match for the marriage anywhere.  However the indexes are like most resources and aren't complete so it doesn't mean that the marriage isn't there.

Sorry I can't be more help,

Jean
