Thanks Jean.... you're a star!! ;D

I have another couple - up the tree - if its not too much trouble??

There were three generations of Thomas's so I wonder if you could check out the following:

Thomas Ollier (b 1763 Whitegate) m Lidia Siddal (1764 Middlewich) they had young Thomas in c1783 - so would guess they married around 1782?

Then older Thomas Ollier (c.1741 whitegate?) m Mary Cawley (c1744 cheshire?) as their son Thomas was born around 1763 - I guess they must of married around this time.

Do the records show fathers?? or where they lived?? If so, it would be great to find out a little more??

This is as far back as I've got..... so just wondering if there is any sign of any more Olliers??

Thanks again

Tracy

Hello Tracy,

Thos. OLLIER m Mary CAWLEY 14 Nov 1757 Whitegate
Thos. OLLIER, shoemaker m Lydia SIDDALL, sp 26 Sep 1783 Middlewich

The information comes from transcribed indexes so there is nothing else although there may be extra information on the parish records - parents names aren't given as a matter of course, but the witnesses might help.  You could order a copy of the parish record entry from Cheshire Records Office - they have an online ordering facilitiy on their website.

Hello Chris,
Hoping you can help with the marriage of 3xGt grandparents James Sefton  b: Staffordshire about 1787 and Lydia (sorry no maiden name) b: Chapel-en-le-Frith about same year.

Shown on 1841 census as living in Stockport with 2 daughters, Mary aged 15 and Emily, 19 with son-in-law James Goodwin.  Know there was a brother born about 1816, all in Cheshire, so am thinking marriage may have also been in Cheshire.  Hope you can help.
Thanks in advance,

Obadiah

Hello Obadiah,

The only match is:

James SEFTON m Lydia SHIRT 1 Aug 1808 at Cheadle

There is also this marriage:

James SEFTON, Weaver m Catherine GOODWIN sp 16 Apr 1837 at Prestbury (both of Macclesfield)

I'm so sorry about this.... but got on a bit of a roll with IGI's.......and found another generation.
SORRY... but could you possibly have a look for these?

John Ollier (born c. 1720) m Elizabeth ? (born c 1721)
Their son Thomas was born in Whitegate in 1741 - so I guess their marriage would be around 1740?

Thomas Siddall (born c 1744) m Elizabeth ? (b c1744)
Their daughter Lidia was born in 1764 in Middlewich - so I guess their marriage would be around 1763?

Thank you again, for your time.

Regards

Tracy

Hi Chris
I was fascinated by this thread tells me much about Middlewich.  Could you tell me if you have a record of Thomas Benbow marrying Hannah Faram on the 21st December 1826 at St Michaels and all angels.  I am interested to know the name of Thomas Father.
It doesn't seem to have been a long marriage as there is no mention of Hannah in the 1841 census

Congratulations on the assitance you have been giving people

Hello Seabee443 and welcome to Rootschat,

The information on this thread is taken from indexes of the marriages, so there isn't any information on witnesses etc - the father's name would not appear on the parish register entry unless he was a witness (and then it wouldn't tell you if he was the father!)

Just for information, the entry is this:
Thos BENBOW m Ann FARAM 21 Dec 1826 Middlewich (Ann and Hannah can be interchangeable).

You could order a copy of the register entry from Cheshire Records Office for a small fee - they have an online ordering facility.

Hope this helps,

Jean

Thank you for the Welcome Jean,

I will follow up the register entry, from the 1841 census he was in 1805 just outside Middlewich, there appears to be a number of Benbows working as shoe makers in the town but how they are all related I have yet to discover.

thank you again for your help
