Hi Jean,
Thank you for that. It is so great to have help like this from others on the forum, as I'd never be able to find it myself from here.
So now you have given me a few needles, I'm off to find the haystack!

Hi, all I know is that Samuel was bc1806 Cheshire, and his wife Mary bc 1806 also Cheshire. From 1841 census first child Margaret bc 1828 Cheshire, then Richard bc1832 cheshire, Mary bc 1836 cheshire, and my direct ancestor John Threlfall bc 1830, stated on subsequent census as born Budworth. He actually married in Manchester 1854. All I have re birth place is Cheshire for Samuel and Mary. Hope you can help, thanks very much.

Do you have any of the family on other census records apart from 1841?  If you have John on the 1851 do you have the census reference?

Jean

Hi, I have son John on 51 as a servant,  HO107 piece 2161 Folio 435 p8      on 61 he is  with his family again, with his widowed mother Mary Trelfa and 2 sisters, states she, Mary, was born in Bickerton, c1804/ RG9 4279 125 p9. So by now Samuel had died. Does this help?

Hi Jean,
Re. William Houlding & Elizabeth - there's interesting.
Elizabeth died in 1806 so it is quite possible that William married again in 1807.
William died in 1826 and is buried at Betley with first wife Elizabeth.
Thanks for that - I will need to keep searching for William and Elizabeth's marriage. Also now need to find 2nd wife Sarah.

Hi,

I was wondering if you could look up the following for me, i'm not sure if they were married in cheshire or lancashire but if you could let me know if they come up in cheshire that would be brilliant!

Pietro Gaspare Bordessa born c. 1800
Elizabeth ? born c. 1806

Pietro's name was often misspelt so if you could also look for alternatives such as:
Peter
Gasper
Gaspar
Bordesa
Bordefa
Bordeffa

I'm afraid i don't know Elizabeth's surname.

Another marriage I'm looking for is between William James Bordessa and Jane Taylor. I dont know any dates for this one however.

Thank you for any help you can offer,

Cheers

Nina

Hi Sigrid,

I've checked the indexes for both marriages but nothing showing I'm afraid.  I've also had a good look at the census to see if I could see Samuel and Mary Threlfall in 1851 but no luck with that either - checked under Trelfa as well.  I'd suggest that you post on the main lookup board for an 1851 lookup for Samuel and Mary - more people look there so we've a better chance of them being found.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help,

Jean

Hi Nina and a warm welcome to Rootschat,

I've checked the indexes for Pietro's marriage, but there is nothing close to Bordessa as a surname.  Most of the indexes cover Anglican churches only, perhaps they were Catholic or non Conformist.

However, there is a marriage on www.cheshirebmd.org.uk:

William J BORDESSA m Jane TAYLOR Chester Civil Marriage 1849
And:
Mariea M BORDESSA m John R O'HAGAN Chester Civil Marriage 1858

You would need to send for the certificates to get the details either by post from the Local Register Office via the above site, or from the GRO using the reference from www.freebmd.org.uk (Mar 1849 Gt Boughton 19 69)

Hope this helps,

Jean

Hi thanks very much for looking. I will try and find the general board and post there, as you suggest.

Thanks again,

Hi Jean,

and thank you for the other two, they were his children! i'll have to have a look at those websites and see what else i can find!

thank you,

Nina
