Thanks for looking Jean. I've found a birth on the Cheshire Parish Records sight that could be my ancestor.

Samuel Maddock baptised 28/01/1754. Father, William Maddock, mother, Mary. The parish code is DAVN and the residence code is LEFT. I have no idea where that is, those codes are not in the glossary.

The later Maddocks lived in Bebington.

Hope this helps.

Hi French,

DAVN = Davenham
LEFT = Leftwich

If you go to "P" for parish in the glossary it gives you all the parishes
If you go to "R" for residence in the glossary it gives you all the other placename abbreviations.

There is a marriage for a William MADDOCK to Mary BURROWS/BURROUGHS 18 Feb 1740 at Davenham which might be a match - also from the CPRdb site.

Hi Jean and thanks for the info.  It gives me another avenue to research.  This is my wife's family I am tracing.  We are both Davies but our trees are really well separated even though we originally come from the same village.  Amazing isn't it?

I'm looking for a marriage between a Thomas Wilson and his wife Ann (Nancy) about 1790.
After their marriage they lived in Weaverham where they had their children.

If anyone could find this couple I would be really grateful.

Regards

Continuing with the family in my previous post, I am at a loss to find the marriage of Alice Wilson and William Dawson between 1861 and 1871.
In the 1861 census Alice was the servant of William, living in Leftwich, but by 1871 she was his wife. At least she was claiming to be his wife. However I can't find the marriage.
If anyone could find the marriage it would be a breakthrough as it has become a bit of a wall for a few years now.
Regards
