Cheshire Parish Records Marriages only pre 1837

Hi Peter


Henry was born in 1825, I have him down as born Congleton but I am not sure whether that is correct.

I have found a John Foden born1776 on the 1841 Census listed as living in a place called Blackden (Congleton), with wife Sarah and another son called James who is also a Butcher.The birth date of 1776 ties in with the info I have been given by my Cousin.
Henry married a Mary Harvey (a widow) in 1848 at Astbury Church, John is listed as deceased on the Marriage certificate.
I cannot find another John Fode listed as a Butcher on the 1841 Census.

             Here is a list of John Fodens butchers marrying, it looks as if the 1841 census (John 65 and Sarah 60) may be a late marriage.

John Foden butcher of Siddington and Phebe Harrop 6/Oct/1770 Prestbury licence

John Foden butch Lower Withington and Mary Bartington 31/Dec/1776 Prestbury

John Foden but Lower With and Mary Gateley minor of Macc 8/Mar/1797 Prestbury licence

John Foden butcher widr and Phebe Barker 31/Dec/1810 Astbury

The family I am searching, although some lived in Lancashire, I know there was a presence in Cheshire.

          Not a lot of info on the marriage, except it seems it may have been difficult to read in the register as it indexed twice, with differant dates and names.
