Hi Sarah,

The closest I can see is this:

Dan CLIFF, dyer married Sophia HOOLEY 30th May 1825 at Astbury

Hope this helps,

Jean

Hi Jean,

Many Thanks for your reply.  Daniel was a dyer, like his father.   Sounds like it may well be our people.  No wonder I couldn't find them in their home parishes!

Sarah

Hi Lisa  :)

Don't think I can add a lot to what you already have, just a few bits and pieces. The marriage indexes are only indexes therefore not much more than names and dates.

If you want a full copies of the parish register entries or licences these can be obtained quite easily from the Cheshire RO. By emailing the full details to the address in this link.

http://www.cheshire.gov.uk/Recordoffice/aboutus/recoffcontact.tm

Peter Stubbs 1770 occupation farmer married by licence
Peter Stubbs 1784 occupation yeoman married after banns
Peter Stubbs 1820 of Nantwich married after banns

Nothing additional for the Welsby marriage.

Hope this helps

Hi chris

I am trying to locate the marriage of John Foden to Sarah? in the Congleton area.

My Grandfather x 3 Henry Foden, their son,was born 1825 but I am sure there were probably other children.

John was a Butcher.

Here's hoping

Cheryl

Hi Cheryl

There is a marriage at Goostry dated 25/May/1835 for a Sarah Potts and John Foden butcher.

Also there are several marriages in the area for John Foden butcher prior to 1816.

Do you have your John and Sarah + Henry together in any census at all, where was Henry born ?

Hi Peter

Henry was born in 1825, I have him down as born Congleton but I am not sure whether that is correct.

I have found a John Foden born1776 on the 1841 Census listed as living in a place called Blackden (Congleton), with wife Sarah and another son called James who is also a Butcher. The birth date of 1776 ties in with the info I have been given by my Cousin.
Henry married a Mary Harvey (a widow) in 1848 at Astbury Church, John is listed as deceased on the Marriage certificate.
I cannot find another John Fode listed as a Butcher on the 1841 Census.

Hope that helps a bit

Thanks for your help

Regards
Cheryl

KIRKPATRICK

Would it be very cheeky to ask for all that are listed under the name KIRKPATRICK please?  [if its not too big an undertaking of course]
The family I am searching, although some lived in Lancashire, I know there was a presence in Cheshire.
