Hi Peter

I'm looking for a marriage between Thomas Holt & Sophia ?

My 3xGgrandfather Charles Holt [their son] was baptised at Bramhall in 1814 but I can't find any siblings or a marriage on either IGI or BIVRI, so I am firmly at a brick wall.

Marriage may be any time between 1780 & 1814 I guess  :-\

Many thanks for anything you can find

SandraC

Hi Sandra

There isn't a marriage at all in the area between a James and Sophia that would fit in that time frame, but there is one dated 18/June/1837 James to a Sophia Taylor at Stockport, could be he was married previously ? What did he do for a living ? I will check the other James Holt marriages in Stockport area.

Hi Tess

Sorry can't seem to be able to find anything in Cheshire at all, do you know where they were born ? or had children ? if they married in or around 1845 you should be able to find them in the GRO indexes, free to search at http://content.ancestry.co.uk/iexec/?htx=List&dbid=8965&offerid=0%3a7858%3a0

Good luck

Hi Peter

When 3xGgrandfather Charles Holt married in Cheadle in September 1837, he gave his father as Thomas Holt, weaver.

BIVRI has an entry for a baptism for Charles Holt son of Thomas & Sophia at Bramhall on 12/6/1814.

This is all I can find.  Charles names his daughter Sophia too.

Thanks for your help

Hi

Can only find 1 possible, dated 22/April/1774 Thomas to Ann Platt at St Andrews Tarvin.

There dosn't seem to be any Nield marriages at Christleton before c1820.

Sorry

Hi Sandra

A bit embarrassed here, for some unknown reason in my first search I looked for a James and Sophia when your request quite plainly states Thomes, must be old age creeping on  :-[

Anyway here is the entry for Thomas (weaver) and Sophia Wood at Stockport dated 24/Dec/1805.

Hi Peter

No worries - we all have senior moments  ;D

Great news - another name to add to the list.

Also, Pughy, if the Neild / Platt marriage turns out to be legit, I may want to speak to you as all my Platt family start in Tarvin / Barrow.

Regards

I have a John Ridgway born either Bredbury or Romiley c1807 married a Martha ??????? (from Denton) before(ish) 1829 which was the birth of their first child.  I have a feeling Phillimore doesn't coves North East Cheshire but thought it worth an ask.
By the way I'm just 'up the road' from you in Henfield.
