Hi, please can anybody tell me if there is a marriage of a William Beresford (or variant) and Mary Ann Washington in the indexes anywhere, think Mary Ann might have been from Barthomeley and the marriage would have taken place in the 1600's sometime.

Many Thanks

Hi Tine

      Welcome to Rootschat  :)

The marriage was indexed as 12/March/1827 but no parents names are mentioned.
Do you have any other details for them IE ages, children, census, etc.

There are some entries in the IGI that may tie in with this couple, have you found them ?

Hi Peter,

thankyou for the help, and yes I do have more information......apparently Mary had a son John Broady in approx l825 and having tried to research this over about three years Ive come to a dead end....let me explain.....John Broady was my great great grandfather, and it was only on delving into the past did I find out that Mary his mother,  was unmarried at the time of his birth, she then went on to marry James Boyer who I believe was Johns father in l827 in great Budworth Cheshire,  I believe Mary's parents may be Tom and Mary Broady all from the Great Budworth and Moulton area of cheshire. I think Mary and James went on to have 4 more children Richard William Ann and Ruth but have no proof to actually tie these children in with Mary and James.....its been a bit of a stumbling block really and other members of the family far and wide who Ive traced cant get beyond this so anything you could find would be appreciated. ps John Broady married Sarah Phipps in mid l840"s

Hi
I think it may be best if you ask for a lookup of the Gt Budworth registers on this board http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/board,6.0.html
A lookup of the birth of John Broady and the possible siblings.
It is unlikely that the original marriage entry will show the parents of Mary and James but worth a look.

Did John Broady's marriage certificate give any clues as to father and who were the witnesses ?

thanks for the help peter and yes  from the information ive recived his  father  isjames boyer, but from what we can understand it was policy in those days to take mothers surname  if parents were not married.  I will take your advice and have a look on the boards you have mentioned....once again thankyou
