Hi,

I'd be grateful if you could look for the marriage of

THOMAS LLEWELLIN (Lewelling etc) and SARAH

probably somewhere near Cuddington, Malpas about 1738-48.

They has a child - Elizabeth - in 1748 baptised in Malpas. In the records, Sarah is described as from Cuddington.

As far as I can tell, the rest of their children were all baptised in nearby Whitchurch, Shropshire which was where Thomas was from.

Thanks,
Jill

Hi Jill

Sorry but can't see anything in my indexes anywhere in Cheshire.
I have coverage of Malpas 1570-1837, it shows only 2 Llewellin marriages indexed and both are for a Thomas Llewellin/Llewellyn.

1696 by banns to Margaret Seavill

14/September/1804 by banns to Elizabeth Wilson

Hi
Please could you look-up a marriage between Joseph Dodd (Dood) b about 1777, Peckforton ,and Ann ? also about same age b Nantwich.

A Joseph Dodd was a witness to the Marriage of Samuel Dodd and Elizabeth Cookson in Aug 1804 at St Boniface Church, Bunbury.

Joseph could have been a brother/father/cousin to Samuel. I thought that maybe the witnesses to the marriage might give me some more hope of finding more about Samuel. Joseph Cookson was also present.

Samuel spent the last 20 yrs of his life in Calveley, Bunbury until he died in 1862. I don't know where he was born.

He had a son Joseph b 1817 and lived with him up to his death.

I found Joseph and Ann Dodd in 1841 census aged about 60yrs. Living in Ridley near Bunbury and wondered if he could possibly be the witness at Samuel's marriage.

I have not made any progress on my research along this line for a long time.

Please help if you can

Kind regards

Chris

Hi Chris

There is a marriage indexed at Bunbury and dated 2/July/1826 Joseph Dodd a widower to Anne Dutton.
Could this be your couple from the 1841 census ?

Hi Peter

I dont think this was the couple in the 1841 census. They were in their 60's in 1841 and Joseph and Ann Dutton would have been about 40 yrs old.

Hi

I am trying to find marriages at Bollington for the Jackson family between 1840 and 1900.

Particularly John or Richard Jackson.

Many, many thanks
Mike

Hi Mike,

The indexes in use for these lookups are for pre 1837 marriages.  If you look at www.cheshirebmd.org.uk you will be able to look at marriages for the relevant parishes for Bollington yourself (although there are 2 Bollingtons if you look at this page: http://www.fhsc.org.uk/genuki/chs/parishes.htm#B).

There is also a coverage page which will tell you which years have been completed, but coverage is very good for most of Cheshire.
