Would it be possible please, to see if there is a marriage between a George Hook and an Ann Gar(di)ner in the Chester area probably in 1832/3. Their first child , George, was born circa 1833.

Hi Lesley,

I've checked both my marriage indexes for GAR[D]NER and HOOK but no luck.  In fact there are virtually no HOOK marriages at all.  Chester doesn't look to be very well covered although it is difficult to tell at a glance.  It might be worth keeping an eye on http://www.csc.liv.ac.uk/~cprdb/ - things are very slow moving but there has been an update recently although no additions.  If you look at progress a couple of Chester parishes are nearly ready for upload, but don't hold your breath...last one was quite a long time ago now!

Sorry I can't be of more help,

Jean

Many thanks for looking Jean. My Hooks originate in Sussex, but I have found no marriage there, and as Ann was from Chester, thought it was worth a try! I will keep checking for updates until I am able to get a look at the registers.

Hi Peter

Thankyou very much for the John Foden marriage information.

I think the only way to be sure is to see if anybody has any birth records for 1825, and try and find Henry Foden's birth in 1825.

Thankyou again

Cheryl

Chris,  would you please check your Cheshire Parish Records Marriage book for the following two names ?
Thomas BOOTH  m.  Mary __   probably in Grappenhall (or Warrington).    He was born there in 1784 so I suspect he would have married between the years of 1804 and 1812.

Thomas' father was John Booth b 1749 in Ince (near Thornton le moor).   Wife's name is unknown.   He would have probably married between  1770 and 1780.

Thank you for your kindness,   Bettye

Hi Bettye

Unfortunatly the Cheshire marriage indexes do not as a rule have the Warrington churches records, these are generally regarded as being "Lancashire" here is a link that shows the various churches and which records are kept where.
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/LAN/Warrington/#ChurchRecords

Found nothing for a Thomas at all, but did find a couple of other Booth marriages that may be of interest to you, if not at the moment then they may/maynot be useful further into your research.

26/March/1733 at Thornton-le-Moors St Mary John Booth and Elizabeth Hyde (banns)

9/September/1781 John Booth and Ann Jackson at St Wilfreds Grappenhall (banns)

hope this helps

Hi Chris,
I am looking for a marriage of William Davies between 1816 and 1823, almost certainly in Nantwich.

Wife possibly Ellen and his occupation probably in the shoemaking trade.

Thanks in anticipation
Peter

Could you please look for a marriage in the Bunbury/Marbury area for Mary Badcock and ?? Edwards between 1820 and 1840. In 1841 as Mary Edwards she married Samuel Powell and I am trying to find out if she is the widow of John Edwards.

Many thanks,
