Yes they probably had older children, he is 50-54 on the 1841 census and she is 40-44 (or lying!) the eldest child is 15 but at the bottom of their family list is Septimus Warren 35 who I presume is Richard's younger brother.  :-\

Hi Sue  :)

      Welcome to Rootschat  :)

There is only one marriage between a Cooke and an Harrop anywhere in the Cheshire indexes

Nathaniel Harrop/Alice Cooke 14/8/1805 at Prestbury

There does not seem to be any Grey/Gray marriages to either Harrop or Cook.

Not a lot of help I know, problem is there may have been a relationship between the families but if its not a marriage or a birth it won't be registed anywhere to prove or disprove.

Anyway they didn't do things like in Cheshire did they  ;D ;D

Thank you for that, no what is supposed to of happened is the  servant girl being had by the lord and married off and the child provided for...my mother was sure it was the 7th earl, and although he was a rouge and had strange taste in women I don't think it was him, I thought it was the harry Grey who became the 8th earl...before he was sent away to south Africa by bringing shame on his family by being a drunk and a wasterall...that would of made it a Sarah Jane jackson who worked as a servant for them and Alfred Cooke who she was married off too and even though they had 12 children I might add I can find no record of them ever being married and for some strange reason all 11 kids were baptized but the first one George w...never was, but I have come across a book that puts the Cooke's working for the earls of Stamford back when the 5th earl was alive and that George Cooke died and left a lot of money back to the Grey family..the author of the book implied he might of stolen it but why would you leave money to the family you stole from...no looking at the bit of will she has in the book I think he was the Cooke born out of wedlock and taken on as steward..the money he left would of been to his half brothers etc...so the story seems to be a lot older then I had first thought.

I am trying to find details for 2 marriages if possible.

The first is William Shore in malpas abt 1806.  I believe the spouse to be Hannah Dunn and she may be from Staffordhire.

The second is Joseph Shore.  He was born around 1750 in the Malpas area.  I'm not sure of his spouse, but it may be Margaret Dickins.

Any information gratefully received.

Thanks Barbara

Hi Barbara  :)

There is a marriage at St Oswalds Malpas dated 24/Feb/1806 for William and Hannah Dunn.

Sorry but can't find anything in Cheshire for a Joseph around that timeframe (1765-1800)

Thanks for the quick reply Peter.

I don't suppose you would check one more for me please.

It is for Joseph Platt who married a Mary.  He was from Faddiley born abt 1805/6, but I think Mary was form Bronington in Flintshire.  The marriage would have been between about 1822-1832 but I don't know whether it was in flintshire or Cheshire.

Thanks very much.

Barbara

Hi Peter

I'm looking for a marriage between Thomas Holt & Sophia ?

My 3xGgrandfather Charles Holt [their son] was baptised at Bramhall in 1814 but I can't find any siblings or a marriage on either IGI or BIVRI, so I am firmly at a brick wall.

Marriage may be any time between 1780 & 1814 I guess  :-\

Many thanks for anything you can find
