Hi Chris....wonder if you would be able to help out with these two? I don't know birthplaces but have a little info on children.

William Derbyshire (b abt 1781, ag labourer) marriage to Martha (b abt 1776)

They had William Derbyshire (b abt 1814 in Marple) and possibly Benjamin Derbyshire b abt 1811 also in Marple. I don't know of any other children but there could be.  1811 is the earliest I have. I am hoping the marriage may have been in Marple but of course could have been somewhere else.

They lived in Marple for a while and then moved to Bollington pre 1841 where the family settled until the 1880s. Later descendants  (eg William 1814) married and I believe also buried at Prestbury Parish Church but I don't know about William and Martha themselves.

ALSO

James Maurice (b abt 1791 ag labourer)  and Hannah (b abt 1791)

In census returns they are listed with the following children but I do not know for sure that they were all Hannah's children or whether James married twice. There could be other children I don't know of.  There is strange spacing between the children which raises questions as to whose they are.

Mary Maurice 1815 Wilmslow
Ellen Maurice 1815 ?
James Maurice 1819 Wilmslow ( I think he is theirs)
Samuel Maurice 1824 Wilmslow
Daniel Maurice 1831 Wilmsow
Aibgail Maurice 1832 Macclesfield

In 1841 they live in Bollington. and all the children are there except James and Samuel. By 1851 they have all gone but we now have James age 32 (hence slight confusion over him). Mary married William Derbyshire (1814 above) at Prestbury Parish Church and lived in Bollington with him. Samuel went to live in Macclesfied. Not sure yet about the others.

Sorry I don't have anything else. Hope it's not too vague.

Thanks  :)

Hi

This one looks as if it could be yours datewise, at Stockport 27/Nov/1809 William Derbyshire husbandman and Martha Richards widow.
There is only one other possible in the area dated 10/July/1803 William a stationer and Martha Rothwell also at Stockport.

Checked all the various spelling of the name Mourice and found this one at Wilmslow dated 11/July/1808 James Morris and Hannah Hatton

nothing certain, but hope it helps

Thanks so much for that.... :)

I don't suppose it gave any idea of parish church or anything else did it?

Hi

The Stockport marriage would have been St Mary and Wilmslow was St Bartholamew.
Very few churches other than the main parish church were licenced for weddings until around the 1840's.

These links should help with the location of Churches and records etc.

Stockport Library holds copies of the parish registers for their area as well as Cheshire RO and Manchester Central Library also.

Hi Peter

Could you have a look for a marriage between

Timothy DAVIES (Born about 1803; Crowton, Cheshire)

and

Sarah ______ (Born about 1802; Chester)

In 1851 they lived in Handbridge.

Their first child was born in 1830 in Chester (Cathedral District) and her name was  Betsy.

Sorry I have no more information.

Thanks in advance
