Hi Anna

Have you found them in the 1841 census or other years ?
What records led you to the Mullins of Wildboarclough ?

I don't have any Staffordshire records sorry.

Hi Peter, the only Mullins I have traced through the censuses is my 4 times greatgrandmother Hannah Hughes nee Mullins born 1810 and down on all the censuses she was on as being born in Wildboarclough, Betty is her sister and her parents are the John Mullins and Ann Hunt you kindly found for me, would be very grateful with any help you can give me with them in Cheshire though.

Thanks

Hi Kena

Looking at the census of 1841 it shows Hannah and husband Peter living in Manchester with 3 children all born Lancashire, is this your family ?

Are you sure Betty had not died before marrying ?

I have checked the census by searching with Betty, keyword Wildboarclough and then again with keyword Macclesfield and then checked all the married ones in the marriage index, but no Mullins, sorry.

It is possible she married out of the county, but she is not showing up in the census.

Hi Peter, Thanks very much for looking for me, am just going on what I have, I know there was a Betty Hudson wife of Peter living in Staffordshire who is said to have been born in Wildboarclough but can't find a marriage on Staffordshire BMD, the IGI or Familyhistoryonline for her, what do you think please?, as before would be very grateful for your opinion.

Thanks

Hi Kena  :)

But just for you  ;)

Peter Hudson married Elizabeth Downes at St Peter Prestbury 24/Dec/1831 both from the township of Wildboarclough.

You really need to ask at the record office for a search of deaths in the Prestbury parish registers, from her baptism dates onwards.

hope this helps

What would we do without Peter Bennett and C0?

More favours, my cousins family this time. BOLTON's in Stockport

I'm back to James William Bolton born about 1801, in 1841 he is living Edgeley, Stockport with his wife Mary, so I'm looking for a marriage.

I found one baptism in 1785  Sarah Bolton daughter of John and Nancy Bolton, I think it was the Wesleyan Church Stockport?  didn't write it down ::)

I'm hoping John and Nancy are also parents of James 1801?  his first son is named John, and he has a daughter Nancy.

John born about 1836 goes on to marry Elizabeth (Betsy) Minikin, she and her sister Margaret show up in the 1841 census in the household of John and Mary Fletcher in Churchgate, Stockport.  The girls were born in Manchester, and I have no idea what relationship they have to the Fletchers.  I think they are probably orphans.  I'll try the Lancashire board.

One more question, probably should be on the general board.  My cousins father and brother went into care of some sort when their parents died around 1910.  Sisters were taken in by a family, but they didn't want the boys.  Both boys joined the army aged 14 towards the end of the First World war, would these lads have gone into the Workhouse?
Thanks for any help  fred B

Hi Fred,

The only marriage I can see is for James BOLTON and Mary ROBINSON 24 Oct 1825 at Cheadle.  The indexes don't give any further information and the parents aren't shown on the PR entry at this time, but the witnesses might give you a clue.  I'd suggest that you contact Cheshire Records office with the marriage information and see if you can confirm it is your James.

If you look at the Cheshire Family History Society webiste there are a number of microfiche available to purchase for the Stockport area.

Sorry I can't help with the other questions.

Jean
