Hi Peter,

I would much appreciate any information on the marriage of George Hadfield (Mottram) and Frances Heginbotham (Romiley) in the 1830s/early40s, and on their fathers Thomas Hadfield and Thomas Heginbotham.

Many thanks for any help.  :)

Hi

The only one I can find for George and Frances is indexed in the http://www.cheshirebmd.org.uk/    at Cheadle St Mary 1840, to obtain more info you will proberbly have to obtain the certificate or veiw the registers at Stockport Library or Cheshire Record office.

Do you have any more information on the two father's, when did they marry, what were their occupations, wifes christian names, where did they live.

Regards

peterbennett

Hi,

I've now realised I had more information than I thought on George and Frances. They were married by banns on 4/5/1840, George was 21, Frances 22, both of Edgeley. Father Thomas Hadfield was a joiner, Thomas Heginbotham was a labourer. I'm afraid that's all I know about the fathers. Might be difficult from here. Many thanks anyway.

Hi

Lots of Thomas Hadfield marriages around the right time and area, so had a search of the 1841 census and found this likely looking family in Mottram.

HO107-100-8-Folio 5 Page 4    Lane End Mottram-in-Langendale

Thomas Hadfield 45/50 joiner born in county
Mary Hadfield 45/50 not born in county
Margaret 15/20 in county
William 13
Maria 9
Martha 5

There is a marriage indexed at Mottram dated 11/Nov/1816 Thomas and Mary Barrowclough.

In the IGI http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/ there is a submitted birth dated 4/Oct/1818 Mottram for a George Hadfield father Thomas mother Mary.

In fact looking closly at the IGI it looks very much as if someone as already researched the Hadfields of Mottram, might be worth you having a good root through them.

hope this helps

Hi me again

Looking for details of Frances I found again in the IGI a baptism dated 4/Oct/1818 at Chadkirk Church Romily showing father as Thomas and mother as Kitty.

A marriage index search shows Thomas Heginbotham and Catherin Barber dated 11/Nov/1805 at Stockport.

1841 census

HO107-112-10-Folio 7 Page 9    Lane End Romily Stockport

Thomas Heginbotham farmer 55/60       all born in county
Catherine 55/60
Ann 20/25 cotton weaver
Martha 15/20 ~~~~~~
Elizabeth 15/20 ~~~~~
Thomas 11

good luck

Hi Peter

Very many thanks for looking.  The marriage bond for James Bayley and Ann Hamnett was issued in Cheshire.

Hi Chris,
I am looking for a George Marshall born around 1790.  He married a Mary ???? in Taxal around 1822.  The children I have found are James 1822, Jonathon 1824.  In the 1841 census for New Mills he is described as widower, 50, not born in Derby with children James, Jacob, Isaac, Jonathon, not born in Derby and William, Mary & Elizabeth born in Derby.
Can you help please.

Can anyone tell me what the Bertram Merrell's marriage index and the Pallot Marriage Index is forgive my ignorance but haven't investigated many marriages around 1780's.

Best wishes
Dorey
