Hi Peter

Can you look on the census records you have for 1841/1851 for Hargrave and Huxley for John Lidgett b1812 (wife Elizabeth) for details of their children.  I only know of Jonathan b 1839 and Charles b1842.  Only Jonathan appears on IGI, Charles is my GT Grandfather.

Thanks

Hi Peter

I feel so close to finding her yet so far away.  I am going to the Cheshire Archives Office on Wednesday don't know wether or not it will help me, as it is the first time I will have been, I am hoping I won't get too easily distracted, once again thanks for all your time and effort also to Angela.

Hi Peter

Many thanks for the census records.  I found it hard to believe there were only 2 offspring of John and Elizabeth.  John and Mary are also of interest as I think they are John's parents, Martha is a new one to me and needs further research.

Thanks again

Hi Peter
Went to the records office on Wednesday, managed to confirm Josephs father as being William and his Mother as being Mary and found his brothers and sisters, which was fantastic.  Now need to see if I can find Marys maiden name.

I couldn't find Catherine Ann Quin on any census or a record of her birth, really frustrating but I have decided to go back again and try, as I might have missed something.  It does look like the family you found John and Jane Quin could be her Mother and Father but I wonder where Catherine could have been?  I shall hopefully be a bit more organised the next time I visit as at one point I found myself looking at a microfilm I had already looked at!

Hi Judith

Well done with your finds. The records office can be a bit daunting first time, its about 20 years now since I last went to Chester, It was a not as busy in them days. Being disabled I rely on my sister if I need anything from there.

Anyway getting down to bussiness I have on my marriage index the following Index

27/1/1835 at St. Peters Hargrave parish of Tarvin

William Ankers (Tattenhall ) married Mary Hopley ( Malpas )
married by banns. It may be worth a look, although son George would have been 3 years old by then, so maybe not. But there again you never no !

info on St. Peters

Hargrave, St. Peter (C of E). A chapelry in Tarvin parish, a separate parish from 1878 comprising the townships of Foulk Stapleford and Huxley. Registers of baptisms 1744-1883, marriages 1746-49 and burials 1744-1813 are at the CRO. Registers of marriages from 1841 are at the church. Bishop's Transcripts 1632-1889 are at the CRO. Memorial inscriptions have been published by the FHS of Cheshire.
It would be the Bishops transcripts you need to veiw

good luck

Hi Fifer
Sorry but the index only covers marriages, and is not complete for Neston, the only marriage I found was
1808 EDWARD ROSCOE TO ANNE HUGHES at ST. MARY HELEN.
I searched the 1841 for Willaston/Neston unfortunatly there is no index, (pages only) and only about 20% is readable. So he could have been there but I cant see him.

sorry

Hi Chris,

I would like to take advantage of your offer of a lookup for Cheshire marriages.

This time I am looking for John Bolland living in Tarporely in about 1818, his son Joseph was born there.( this is from the 1851 Liverpool census)

With any luck it may have been his home town and John may have married there, the only other piece of information I have is that John was listed as a farmer on Josephs wedding certificate in 1841.

Many thanks ,
Kiwi.

Hi Kiwi

I have searched the parish index for Tarporley
and found no Bolland (or variations of) marriages.
Only 3 John Bolland found around that area at about that time.
1) marrying Elizabeth Davies at Nantwich 1808 he a surgeon
2)        ~     Sarah Faulkner at Waverton 1810 he from Tarvin
3)        ~     Elizabeth Evans at Chester St. John 1819

I then looked on the 1841 census for Tarporley and found
a likely family

  HO 107 96-33  folio 13 Tarporley

John Boland        60      ag lab         born in county
Elizabeth Boland 60                           ~    ~     ~
Sarah Boland      30                   not   ~    ~     ~
Clara  Boland       5                      ~    ~    ~     ~

This family I could not find in the 1851 census
but did find two other Bollands living in the next village a James and family and a Benjamin.
I have printed off the census pages and will email to you if required, please let me have your email address by private message.
Does the wedding cert. give the names of witnesses who may have been related ??

regards

peterbennett
