Hi Chris

I would be very grateful if you could find any information on the Shaw family of Bosley - all and any years.

I'd also be interested to find all Cheshire marriages of Samuel Shaw in the late eighteenth century.

Many thanks for your time on this.

Mike

Hi Mike

All Bosley marriages are indexed under the head church of Prestbury which covered a very large area around Macclesfield, so unless there is a statement in the register that the person was from Bosley it is not possible for me to sort them out. I will go through my indexes and see what can be found, but I am afraid that most of the Bosley folk will not be identified.

As for sorting out all the Samuel Shaw's marrying in Cheshire you may be best to purchace the Bertram Merrill index of Cheshire marriages.
You can obtain this from http://www.fhsc.org.uk/fhsc/cdrom.htm

I will get back to you in a day or two re the Bosley Shaws when I have gone through the indexes.

Peter, Thank you so much for the info on Prestbury/Astbury etc. & Cheshire CDs.

Could you please look for a marriage of a Charles Shaw, in about 1830, in the Macclesfield area, most probably in Prestbury Parish Church.

Thank you, Tony

Peter

Many thanks for your time on the Shaws of Bosley and Samuel in particular.

I would like to pick your brain (and experience if I may).  I have an Ann Shaw born in Rainow on 28 Jun 1795 whose parents are Samuel and Ann Shaw - I spotted this in the Rainow parish register.  I am trying to trace the marriage of this Samuel and Ann.

Them marriage you have highlighted of;

Samuel husbandman/ Ann Pott of Rostherne 7/Dec/1789

could be the one.  Could I check that the Rostherne may not be Rainow.

The distance between the marriage and the birth of Ann is also causing me a problem.  I can't find any other births of Shaws with parents Samuel and Ann between 1789 and 1795 - I have looked in the Rainow records.

Any advice would be grately appreciated.

Many thanks again for your effort.

Peter, Thanks for looking for Charles Shaw's marriage.
I don't know his wife's name, he lived in Macclesfield & was a weaver.

His daughter was Mary Ann Shaw born c1834 & married 1853 @ Prestbury Parish Church to Levi Proctor. One of her witnesses was a William Shaw.

I hope this helps,
Thanks

Hi

There is a marriage that looks to be the closest to your dates, at Prestbury 29/Jan/1822 Charles Shaw Silk weaver of Macc and Mary Frost sp of Macc.

Do you have Mary Ann in the 1841 or 1851 census ?

Peter, That does seem to be the right Shaw's.
My cousin has now found them in the 1851 & 1861 census's & it all seems to fit & to make them our Shaws. Which is great as Shaw is a common name.

Thank you so much. We are still hunting for the elusive Nathaniel Procter but the Shaws are a link & so are the Plant family so we are progressing & you have been very helpful.

Regards, Tony Procter-Lambe

Hi

I am looking for a marriage between Thomas WARBURTON (b1813) and his wife Elizabeth. Their first child was born 1830 so I am guessing a marriage date in the late 1820s. Since Thomas came from Altrincham and Elizabeth from Mobberley I am guessing the likely location would be in the area of Altrincham.

Any info greatly appreciated.
