Chris if your offer still stands, I am looking for a marriage of James Bilton to Hannah (?). Their eldest son was born 1795 and was baptized in Runcorn but I was unable to find their marriage in the All Saints, Runcorn registers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Shirley

Sorry but I can't see any James Bilton marring at all anywhere in Cheshire, the indexes I have are fairly complete, so suspect they married out of the county. Or maybe they didn't ?

regards

Thank you Peter, I wonder could you help with a Grocott [various spellings] family from Wybunbury, Hunsterson area pre 1837. I now think that Martha, John`s wife, was from Walgherton which I think is in the same area. Many thanks.

Hi

Sorry to disappoint but cannot find a John marrying a Martha at all, was she known by any other name, there are a few Marys, do you have a rough idea of a year ?

Sorry Peter my mistake it`s John Grocott`s marriage to Emma thats pre 1837.  Their daughter Ann was born about 1836 so the marriage should pre date that.  John was born about  1814 at Hatherton, not sure where that is ! once again sorry for the mistake.

Thanks anyway Peter. It is still good to know as I will now broaden my search to other counties. And sorry about getting your name wrong!

Hi Chris

Do they go as far as 1822?

I am trying to verify an IGI entry - the marriage of George Peake and Mary Newton at Astbury, December 1822.

Regards

Godfrey

Dear Chris,

I was sent information about a possible marriage between William Gandy and Margaret (possibly Jones) 19 Feb 1832 in Lymm, Cheshire. Could you please confirm this?

William and a Margaret went on to have a family of six children, starting in 1834, so am hopeful that I have the right couple.

Beth

Hi Godfrey

The record is correct and indexed in the Bertram Merril index of  marriages, George's surname is spelt without the "e" and he is a bricklayer, Mary is descibed as from the parish of Sw. Swithamley I think it will be, or maybe Swettenham.
