Could you help please. I am looking for any information on a John Bennett and his family. Sorry but I don't know who he married.  He was the father of George who was born about 1818 and lived in Sound, Wrenbury, Chester at the time of his marriage in 1839.  I have Georges marriage certificate and all the information I have is his fathers name, and it gives Georges age as full.

Hello again Peter
Thanks you for your help. I am afraid that the only information I have on John is his name on Georges marriage certificate.
As for George he was born in Faddiley abt 1818 and married Betsey Boote on 28th January1839 in Wrenbury. She was born in Newhall.  I have a copy of the certificate, their ages are full and residence at the time of marriage is Sound. Their children were born in the villages of Burland/Faddiley/Sound/Brindley.
In 1841 they were living in Burland, 51 Faddiley, 61 Acton Village.
On the 1861 census there are 2 visitors  Ann Bennett aged 30 who  might be Georges sister she was born in Acton and   a child Joseph aged 8 months/Nantwich.
George died in 1866 and Betsey in 1885.
I am trying to find out when George was born and also any information on John. As I cannot find out via census and other infomation  on line does this mean I have to visit the records office, I would be grateful for any help you can give me.
Many thanks

Hi Eliza
Sorry I did not remember it was me who did the previous lookup for you.

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,40118.msg166259.html#msg166259

There is nothing conclusive showing up in the 1841 census for John Bennett, however I do have one in Faddiley aged 50 wife is Ann also around 45/50.
Also found a marriage indexed for a John Bennett and Ann Davenport at Acton St Mary 14/2/1814.
Acton would be the correct parish church for Faddiley.
It may be best if you send an email to the records ofice with the details of George and date c1818 and ask for a search at Acton St Mary, here is the link

good luck

Hi Ruth
I have a record of a marriage of a Thomas Gettings and Elizabeth Ravenscroft at St Johns Knutsford on Christmas Eve 1810, unfortunately it is only an index with no further info.

I have got the marriage cert of a Jospeh GORMAN who married in 1901, Liverpool.
He was born 1877 Birkenhead (according to 1901 census.

On his marriage cert it has fathers name only (Mark GORMAN, deceased)

Do the Parish records have the mothers name too or is it fathers name only?
Really not sure where to go with this one.

Appreciate advice/help!
Thanks

Hi
Sorry the parish index I have only shows marriages pre 1837.
I have looked on the Cheshire BMD http://www.cheshirebmd.org.uk/ but there is no marriage of a Mark Gorman, nor is there a birth of a Joseph Gorman, can't seem to find him in the 91 or 18881 census either.
    A bit of a mystery  ???
