Hi Chris,
Hope you can be of help. I am looking for the marriage of Thomas Pugh and Jane Pealin. Thomas was from Willaston ( nr Neston ) and Jane from Halton. Their son George ( one of twins ) was born in 1840, so I guess Thomas must have married around 1837.
Hope this is sufficient info for you to get a result.
Thanks in anticipation.
Brian

Brian I have found and posted further info on the Pugh family at this link

Hello Chris,
I am hoping to find the birth record of Samuel Pope. He was born  1836 in  Alvanley. On another document he says, Helsby.

A  KS  found a person I believe to be my Samuel Pope on the Helsby,  1851 census. He is listed as being a lodger, u, 15 yrs, born Alvanley.

He is living with a Dixon/Ainsworth family( ag lab.)

On the 1841 census, for Frodsham, there is an Eliza Pope,
b  about 1817-1821 who is described as what looks like FL or HL
Living with a Sarah  Nickson( b 1767 - 1771)  Publican and her family. so perhaps this Eliza Pope was an unmarried servant. She is old enough to be Samuel's mother.

Also on the 1841 census,  there is a
 Thomas Pope b 1807 - 1811 Labourer
Ann,   wife  b 1822-1826( so not likely to be Samuel's mother )
Ann dau 6
Thomas  son 4
Esther dau 6 mo.

When Samuel Pope married in 1870   in Widnes( Wesleyan Methodist chapel)  to Ann Chadwick, the section on his marriage certificate for his father's name was left blank. (The bride's father's name, however, was entered.)

I would love to have any 'Popes' you come across as they may turn out to be relatives.

(I was told a long time ago by a member of the family, that she thought they had originated in Sandbach but that might have been one of those family stories as I have found no reference to Sandbach.)
Thank you for your kindness in offering these lookups.

I'd be interested to know of any HINTON marriages which didn't take place in Lymm (I've got all the Lymm ones), and particularly Thomas Hinton/Miriam Something round about 1812.

How about John Hinton and Mary 1768-ish?  Also Samuel Hinton and Mary early 1850's or William Hinton and Absolutely-no-idea round about 1840??  I'm starting to think my Hintons didn't actually bother with marriage very often....  Thanks again for your trouble.

Thanks for the lead on John & Mary - the GRO online has bankrupted me for the time being, so 'll keep checking FreeBMD for updates.  (I'm in France.)

Thank you, Peter. I was hoping that maybe there was a baptism for my Samuel Pope, b 1836,  in the Alvanley area.  I know the registration starts in 1837.

Also, I wondered if there may have been a Pope marriage  just before that time, in that area,  that may have been his parents. eg. Eliza as mentioned.

Perhaps he was illegitimate. Perhaps that's why his father was not mentioned on his marriage certficate

I haven't tried the office you recommend. Sometime I may do that.
