Hi Roy
         Welcome to rootschat
I have searched the index but non of the William Wright marriages stand out as being right, either date or district wise.
The index I have for Tarvin covers 2800 marriages, dates from 1563-1837 unfortunatly there are a few gaps.

sorry,it looks like you may have to try the records office at Chester

Peter,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

My ancestor Margaret Wright b. 1847 (m. George Hatton, Bunbury) consistently cites her birthplace as Tarvin in censuses 1871 onwards.

As you know I am new to RootsChat. How best should I initiate a look-up of the 1851 census for information re her parents?

All the best

Roy

Peter,

The putative siblings are:

William b 1828
Ann b 1836
Elizabeth b 1842
Sarah b 1844

All baptized in Tarvin, parents William WRIGHT and Ann, according to IGI.

I could find no suitable record for Margaret in Cheshire BMD births - I guess Tarvin has not yet been indexed for that period?

Also, Bennett happens to be an interest of mine.

This week I received the marriage certificate of Abraham BENNETT b.<1835> Bollington (1871 census) from Cheshire East RO citing John BENNETT as father. Both father and son were tailors.
I cannot find the family in IGI and there are too many Bennetts registered in Bollington in Cheshire BMD births to form a picture of the family.

Again, a look-up in 1851 or 1841 census could be very useful to me.

Roy

Peter,

Very helpful and a lesson to me on the shortcomings of IGI.

I forgot to mention that I believe I have located John Bennett in the 1871 and 1881 censuses Water Street Bollington b <1808>. However he was a widower by 1871.

Thanks Peter - that is great detail.

I will attempt to get Elizabeth's maiden name fom a post-1837 child. However, for a complete record I would be grateful if you could take a look in your marriage records of an early 1830's wedding around Disley - do they extend into Derbyshire?

Also, I have another Bennett 1841/51/61 census search request

Abraham m. Sarah Wainwright May 16 1858 Macclesfield.

Yesterday I received Sarah's birth cert. from Cheshire East CRO.

Sarah Wainwright born Apr 24 1839 Pott Shrigley
Father James Wainwright of Pott Shrigley, mother Frances Bennett

Also IGI has James Wainwright m. Frances Bennett Feb 3 1834 Prestbury

I cannot find James or Frances in the 1871 or 1881 census.

It would be great to to have the detailed picture of the family from 1841/51/61 census.

All the best

Roy

Hi,
would it be possible for someone to look up the marriage of Thomas Daniel and Martha Eccles?
Thomas was born in the parish of Cheadle about 1806.
Martha was born in Norbury about 1812/13.
They later lived in Norbury and Poynton.
Children included
Elizabeth born 1832/33 Norbury
Henry born 1833/34   Norbury
David born 1847   Poynton
Lydia born 1849/50   Poynton
Baptisms of these children haven't been found. The first two could have had a different mother considering the age gaps. Martha was the mother of David and Lydia.
Regards
Jean Sandra
