2.  Charlotte was illegitimate and George Brown was her father.  This could be difficult to prove.

Hi Jean :)

Thank you so much for checking this information for me. It is very kind of you. I am a liitle confused about the above. Did you mean she could have been illegitimate or she was.

Hi Evie,

Just that it is a possibility.

Thank You Jean,
Now I am positive that Ann and Elizabeth were sisters. I will have to get the birth & marriage certificates next.  Do you know if it is possible that William Constantine could have passed on from the big cholera epidemic of 1848 which hit Cheshire?  I know that he died between 1848 and 1851. Thanks again!  KitKat

Hello Chris, My interest is in a Thomas Millward, born 1797-1801 christened Hartington Church Derbyshire. Father William butcher by trade, as was Thomas his son.
1841 census Thomas is living in Byroms Street, Sutton Lane Ends, Macclesfield.
1845 he fathers a child. 1847 married the mother Martha Parr.
1867 death in Macclesfield Workhouse. Buried Prestbury Churchyard.
I am wondering if he was married before his marriage to Martha in 1847
I hope your offer of marriage lookups pre 1837 is still on offer.
Thank you, Mrs G

Hi Mrs G,

I can't see an pre 1837 marriage for Thomas, but there is this:

William MILLWARD, butcher m Elizabeth HUNT widow 25 Sep 1826 at Prestbury, both of Macclesfield
and
Wm MILLWARD, butcher m Eliz HUNT, wdw 26 Nov 1817 at Prestbury, both of Macc
Both marriages by licence.
Strange as the dates don't look easily confused, I think the only way to be sure would be checking the parish registers.

Hi KitKat,

The only way to find the cause of death would be to purchase the death certificate.  I can't see a death registration that fits for the dates given, although there is one in 1847 - see www.freebmd.org.uk

Thanks for the Reply to my question about Thomas Millward.
I shall have a look into the info you gave me about his father, William.
What does marriage by licence mean, not married in Church with Banns ect., but in a reg Office?
Thanks Mrs G
