Percival is a very common name in Cheshire and it isn't possible to do blanket lookups for a surname.  Do you have any specific marriages pre 1837 that you want a search for?

Another very kind Rootschatter has recently helped me find loads of information through various sites which inevitably gives you more research to do!

Please can you look up the following for me?:-

John Royle - m - Esther   I think around 1814???

They had a daughter Ellen who was born in 1816 and christened in Carrington, Cheshire on 27.10.1816.

I would just like to know Esther's maiden name, if and when they were married and where.  Plus dob's if you can!???

Hi,

After a bit of digging around and another Rootchatter's help I have managed to find out Esther's maiden name was Wood and she was born around 1783, they married in 1807.

So I think I have found the answers I wanted!!!!!!

Please will you see if you can find a marriage between an  Elizabeth Woodward and Peter Pemberton which I think took place in Frodsham on 27.12.1832.   I think her father was called John - is her father's name given?

Please will you also see if you can find a marriage for a John Woodward around 1800-1810.  Is his father shown as George?  I'm hoping there are two marriages for John Woodwards and that one is not Elizabeth Hayes.

Please will you also see if you can find a marriage of a George Woodward in the mid 1700s.

I am very confused with my Woodward ancestors  and  I think the key to the puzzle is finding out who John Woodward married and, hopefully, if his father's name is shown.

1.  Peter PEMBERTON m Betsy WOODWARD 27th December 1832 at Frodsham.  The witnesses were M HAYES and John WOODWARD - father's name is not given at this time but the witnesses may help!

2.  John WOODWARD p. Weverham m Nancy ROBINSON 26 Dec 1803 at Northenden
John WOODWARD m Elizb HAYES 6 May 1805 at Frodsham
John WOODWARD m Mary ELLISON 4 Apr 1808 at Runcorn

3.  George WOODWARD m Mgt DOD 16 Apr 1759 at Frodsham
George WOODWARD m Mary BELL 15 Nov 1768 at Frodsham

No other details given for 2. and 3.

As the witnesses to Peter Pemberton's and Elizabeth (Betsy) Woodward's marriage were a John Woodward and an M Hayes, I think it is probably a safe bet that her parents were John Woodward(1) and Elizabeth Hayes.  From IGI, it appears that his parents were a John Woodward(2) and a Mary Hughes.  Apparently their marriage was on 7 October 1773.  Is it possible for you to look at that marriage, i.e. John Woodward(2) and Mary Hughes and see if there are any witnesses or parents listed.

I already have a will of a George Woodward who I was told was Elizabeth Woodwards's grandfather, but it seems that is wrong and I have a will of a John Woodward which I only received this week.  Now I know that the one I want married Elizabeth Hayes, I will do a search on IGI for any children to see if the names match the ones on the will.  If they don't then I have another wrong will.   Maybe I should have remembered this thread before I ordered the will.
