Hi Chris
Could you see if you could find a marriage for a George Critchley - he was born bet 1794-1801 in Nantwich. I feel the marriage may have been in the Macclesfield area as he had one son with this wife named Thomas Critchley b 1821 Macclesfield. So around 1820 I feel may be around the right date.
Thanks very much Jo ;D

Hi Jo,

You don't give his wife's name, but is this a possible:

Geo CRITCHLEY, Cotton sp m Sarah DICKS, sp 4 Oct 1818 Prestbury (both of Macclesfield)

Hi Jean
Thanks for that I will bear it in mind - I don't have his wifes name at all, my only reservation is that Georges occupation for 30/40 years was a tripe dresser, not cotton spinner. Thats not to say he changed occupations though is it. I will have a look at Sarah Dicks
Thanks very much again Happy New Year

Hi Jean

Thanks for looking.  I've found out the groom's first name which was Jonathan.  According to a book I have they were married in 1802 but nothing more precise than that.

Thanks again

Hi Chris,
Peter Bennett found me a marriage between John Ridgway and Martha Ashworth at St Mary Cheadle on the 27th June 1827 some time ago when I was 'chasing' marriages and deaths and maiden names of my Gt Gt grandparents.
Apart from 2 deaths in Yorkshire I have completed that and am wondering if there is any more info on Parents or witnesses given.

PS Glad you enjoyed your visit to Macclesfield.

Hi Jean

It's me again.  :)  Could you see if there is a marriage for a William Bayley to a Catherine, please? They were mentioned in a will in 1803 in Nantwich.

Many thanks

Hi Mumsie2131,

The information is from an index - sometimes there is a little more information given but I have checked and there is nothing else there.  The date shown is 17th June 1827 (not 27th).  As you have the date I suggest that you contact Cheshire Records Office for the details - you can even order a copy of the parish record entry online for a small fee.

Hope this helps,

Jean
