Hello Chris,
Are you able to help with a Stockport marriage please?
Between James Sefton - originally from Hanley, Stoke, and Lydia (sorry no maiden surname) orig. from Chapel-en-le-Frith.  Eldest boy Samuel born in Stockport around 1813, so am presuming the marriage was near that time  as well.
Thanks, hopefully
Obadiah

Hi Obadiah,

Hi.

I'm looking for the marriage of Joseph REDFERN (born c. 1802) to Ann MADDOCKS or MADDOX (born c. 1812). Their first known child was born c. 1836 so they were probably married in the early 1830s, maybe in the Guilden Sutton area.

I'm also looking for the marriage of Ann's parents William MADDOCKS and Elizabeth, pre 1812, again maybe in the Guilden Sutton area, which is where Ann was baptised.

Is anyone able to help?

Hi hsm and welcome to Rootschat.

Not where expected, but could this be the first marriage?

Jos REDFERN m Ann MADDOCKS 1 Mar 1835 Cheadle

There's nothing obvious for Ann's parents marriage, but it could be that she was from the Cheadle area.

Many thanks for that Jean. I think this could well be the right one as Joseph and Ann were living in Haughton Green, Lancs by 1841. Definitely worth further investigation.

Hi Abigail,

The parish registers for Alderley are fully transcribed up to c1870 and available here:

http://www.csc.liv.ac.uk/~cprdb/

The marriage of John and Mary Burgess is under FINLOW.

The only other one I can see is this:

James FINLOW m Eliz. BROADHEAD 10 Feb 1808 at Cheadle.  You are unlikely to get parents names on the register at this time unless they are witnesses.

Hope this helps,

Jean
