Hello

I have Hannah YARWOOD born about 1839 in Motttram St Andrew, Cheshire.  I cannot find her parents marriage, so must be before 1837.

Please could you check and see if you can find a marriage for

William YARWOOD and Edna HOLT.

(William was born Morley, Cheshire about 1821 and Edna was born Alderley Cheshire about 1817 (daughter of Josiah Holt).

Thank you
Joan

Hi

I am also looking for the marriage of William YARWOOD and Edna HOLT.  There is a record for a William and an Ednah WODHALL in 1839 in Stockport.  Is it possible that Edna was married before she married William YARWOOD?

Regards

Janet

Hi Janet (and Joan)

The marriage referred to took place in 1839 at Cheadle St Mary - it is on www.cheshirebmd.org.uk.

The certificate would tell you if she had been married before.

Hi Iria/ Jean

Am looking for another couple of marriages in Cheshire!

Olive Nield's parents - who'm I assuming were married in Stalybridge around 1800 - 1806:

James Nield to Hannah ?

Also: I have a Samuel Hague/Haigh? m Betty (Elizabeth) ? again in Stalybridge around 1822 - 1825

Can anyone help with these. I can't seem to find anything on the IGI.

Many Thanks

Tracy

Hi Tracy,

Can't see anything for Nield but this HAIGH marriage might be of interest:

Samuel HAIGH m Betty NEILD 27 Feb 1827 Mottram in Longdendale

Jean

Thanks ever so much for that Jean. The first two children listed for Samuel and Betty were born in 1825 and 1826, so I wonder if this was Samuel's second marriage? Alternatively, it could have been Betty's second marriage?
Is there any sign of an earlier one as these first two children were born in Stalybridge?

Thanks again for your help.

Tracy

Hi Tracy,

I think you would need to find the baptisms of the children if possible.  There are no marriages for HAGUE/HAIGH in Stalybridge on my indexes (doesn't mean it didn't happen there - just that they haven't been indexed).

Hi,
I'm hoping someone can locate a marriage record around the late 1790's to early 1800's for Charles Boulton, cabinetmaker to an Elizabeth ?

Their eldest known child, was christened in 1801 at Chester St. John The Baptist. All subsequent children were also christened there, according to the Cheshire Parish Register Project.
I'm hoping they may have married at the same church. One of their children had a middle name of Chritchley, could this be Elizabeth's maiden name?

According to the IGI,there is a Charles Boulton, christened 1775 in Gawsworth,Ches. parents William & Esther Green. I'm not sure this is the Charles I'm looking for,as I have no proof of his dob.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Nancy

Hi Nancy,

These are the only matches I can see - possibly he was married twice?:

Charles BOULTON of St Oswald, Chester m Elizabeth ROBERTS otp 3 Nov 1799 at Knutsford
Charles BOLTON of St Oswald, Chester m Elizabeth CRITCHLEY p Moreton Say 28 Oct 1816 at Moreton Say, SALOP

Hi Jean,
You are a shining star! You helped unravel a family mystery. Charles Boulton is my 4x gr. grandfather. His 2 marriages explains why 2 of his children had middle names of Roberts and Critchley.

Since I'm from the U.S. and not familiar with the Cheshire area, could you clarify things for me? Charles 1st marriage at Knutsford and 2nd marriage at Moreton Say,Salop, are they the names of the town or the church?
Is there any way for me to get a copy or scan of these records?

I can't thank you enough for your help. Without all you wonderful, generous rootschatters help,I'd be lost!
Best wishes,
Nancy

Hi Nancy,

They are the names of the town.  I suspect the Knutsford one will be Knutsford St John.  See:
http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/chs/knutsford.html

Salop is another name for Shropshire.  I'm not as familiar with the area, it might be best to post a separate request for information on the Shropshire board - not much information but:
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/SAL/MoretonSay/index.html

You can order photocopies of the parish register online from Cheshire Records Office for a small fee.
