Thanks for both replies Jean... will check out the Godley cert, in fact I've got the form ready to send off for that!
With regards to Benjamin and Elizabeth - I'll have to check out the Stalybridge records and see if I can find anything.

Thanks again for your help.

Hi Chris

I am looking for the marriage of Joseph Whittingham to an Elizabeth sometime in the 1720s.  Elizabeth was buried at Middlewich in 1736.

Many thanks

Hi Rosanna,

I have checked and cannot see a relevant marriage.  I have also checked Frodsham and the marriage isn't there.

Sorry I can't be of more help,

Jean

Hi Chris ,
May I take up your offer on the Marriage Registers?

Can you find a marriage of a James Worrall to a Margaret in Great Budworth from 1690 to 1700?

Can you confirm that Thomas Worrall married Margaret Booth in Great Budworth on 22 Jun 1654?

Thanks
Paul aka Rubbish

Thanks for looking, Jean. May I request another lookup.  Same chap, Joseph Whittingham, to an ANN sometime in the 1730s.  Middlewich again.

Many thanks

It might be worth reminding people that the FamilySearch Labs site has an index of Cheshire marriages from 1538 to 1907.  It's far from comprehensive, and I wouldn't trust its indexing as much as that in W.P.W Phillimore's Cheshire Parish Record Transcripts - so this thread still is valuable.  But the other place might be worth a look, especially for marriages after 1837.

One big advantage of the Labs site, though, if you are lucky enough to find a marriage there then you can look at an image of the actual parish register.

It's got Cheshire baptisms and burials too (same date range).  Again, there is far from comprehensive coverage.  (At least I've never found any of my Cheshire ancestors in the registers on that site despite finding them at the CPR database site.)
