Thank you so much for that, Jean, what a shame there was no other information. At least I know the marriage records exist.

Best wishes Crystal  :D

Hi Jean
Wonder if you can help me find a marriage for my John ALLEN b abt 1798 at High Legh.
His wife was Mary born at Baguley about 1809. Their first child (Alice) as far as I can know was born in 1835 at Lostock Lancs.
They spent all their married life at Longford Tce in Stretford.
He died about 1874. I am guessing or assuming that as Mary was from Baguley that's where they married.
Heres hoping... ;D
Cheers

Hi Jo,

The only one I can see that may fit is:

John ALLEN m Mary ASHTON 16 Feb 1824 at Cheadle which looks to be too early.  Did they have any other children after 1837?  If they did, I'd suggest purchasing a birth certificate so that you have Mary's maiden name.

Sorry I can't be of more help,

Jean

Hi tsb,

The indexes only have marriages before civil registration began in 1837.  If they married in Cheshire you should be able to find them at www.cheshirebmd.org.uk.

I've had a look and can't see anything obvious, do you know that they definitely married?  I can see Matilda at home with the family in the 1841 census (HO107 92/3/4 Page 3) and in 1851 (HO107 2163/230 Page 22).  Elizabeth is working nearby as a servant in 1841 (HO107 92/3/6 Page 7) and as a servant again in 1851 (HO107 2165/407 Page 37).  I can't see either Matilda or Elizabeth in 1861, but can't find marriages for them either.

Is this any use?  It's the MI for Luke and Elizabeth (parents of Elizabeth and Matilda) from Great Budworth St Mary:

Underneath lieth the remains of LUKE WINSTANLEY who departed this life 23 January 1863 aged 67 years  Also ELIZABETH wife of the above who departed this life February 5 1872 aged 73 years  Also the remains of MATTHEW WINSTANLEY son of LUKE and ELIZABETH WINSTANLEY of Great Budworth who departed this life September 29 1822 aged 1 year 7 months

Jean Thankyou for taing the time to look. I agree 1824 is too early, not sure why I didn't think of purchasing a certificate earlier myself ???Thanks again.

Hi

I have a marriage of a Hannah WILLIAMSON (Widower) to a William GEE in Chester? in 1833 which I found on the Cheshire Parish Register Database.  I am now trying to find Hannah's first marriage.  My understanding is that she married a William WILLIAMSON but I'm not sure of Hannah's maiden name.  I also believe that they may have originated from just over the boarder in Bretton.  I know they had at least two children, Mary  abt 1827 and Joseph abt 1829.

Can anyone help

Cheers
