Thanks very much. I wonder if  Ann Mottershead
was married previously to '?  Foden' and then remarried in 1851 to a Samuel Maurice.
Can you find any information of a marriage between  an Ann Mottershead b 1821 and ? Foden.
Hi John,

Ann MOTTERSHEAD married James FODEN at Prestbury St Peter 1840 PSP/2/241.  You can check the index yourself at www.cheshirebmd.org.uk.

Hi, I know I have asked for a lookup of this marriage before but it was not able to be found. Now I can't find it on this thread.

However I think I may have asked for a lookup in the wrong area, so I hope it is OK if I try again.

Could someone please see if they can find a marriage between Joseph Lawrenson (many spellings, also misspelled as Sawrinson) and Rebecca (surname unknown). This may have taken place in the Utkinton/Rushton or Tarporley areas of Cheshire from 1816 onwards. First child I know of is born around 1825 but there may have been others born prior to 1825.

Thanks a lot.

Hi Ruskie

Sorry but there is nothing for them in any of the indexes for anywhere in Cheshire.

Hi Peter

This marriage would seem to be the one - many thanks.

I would value your opinion on the following.

I have been searching for a marriage for John Edwards and Mary in the Peckforton area. You have helped in the past and I have searched parish registers as well but no joy so far. Through census and searching parish records I have found what I'm pretty sure is a 2nd marriage for Mary Edwards (nee Badcock - father Thomas) in 1841 in Bunbury and she seems to fit. Can't find a baptism for her but on 24 Feb 1799 (which would be a very good fit) there was a baptism of Mary Badcock d/o of John Badcock and also a baptism for William s/o Thomas Badcock (Both in Bunbury). What are the odds on the vicar mixing up the fathers??

regards, Fairlane
.

Hi

Are you asking if the priest got the fathers mixed at the baptism or her "second" marriage ? if the two baptisms were on the same day then there is a chance they could be mixed then.
There was a John Badcock who married at Bunbury 31/Dec/1795 to Elizabeth Gardiner, so it possible both he and Thomas were having children at the same time, are there any mothers names mentioned in the baptism registers ?

Hi Peter
Yes I'm asking re the baptism. No mother's name was mentioned in the baptisms but even so they were both named Elizabeth! John and Thomas Badcock both had sons named John in 1801 and other children as well but there was only one Mary. Looking at my notes I  have found baptism of William son on Thomas Badcock of Peckforton Dec 2nd 1798. I think it's back to Chester R.O. to search burials to see if one Thomas died and the other replaced him - if not vicar mixing up the dad's seems possible. I'll also look at census to see if I can find two Thomas's born about same time.

Thanks for letting me run this past you - it helped to clarify the situation.

best wishes, Fairlane

At last things are falling into place.

Hi John,

There are 2 possible James Foden death records on the index (note that www.cheshirebmd.org.uk is not complete):

James FODEN aged 28 East Macclesfield 1847 EMC/9/13
James FODEN aged 29 Alderley 1851 ALD/2/55

You would need to send for the certificates to be sure.  If you go to the above website and search you will see that you can click on the reference, this will give you a form that you can complete and send off.

Hi,

I'm hoping you can help me with the following marriages.

Randle Kennerley 1677-1726 Lower Peover, Cheshire married Ellen  ???
think she was born 1696-1722 Lower Peover.  All but one of her children died very young.  Earliest known birth Martha, 1713.

and  Father of above, also Randle Kennerley 1650-1729 Lower Peover married Ann ???.  Earliest birth is Randle 1677.

Would love to tie up my loose ends.

Thanking you in advance,
Joan  :)
