I wondered if anyone had thoughts they would like to share on the possible meaning of an unusual second middle name of "Ledger". My gg grandfather, b Scotland, married an English (b. Durham) girl. They named their first born son, John Joseph Ledger Fadzen. In 1871, the mother lived on "Ledger Terrace" and this is the same year she married my gg gf. However, they did not conceive John J.L. for another 7 years. Is anyone familiar with Ledger Terrace? Is a Street or Place name for a middle name a common practice in the 1870's in England? Is there possibly another meaning to the name "Ledger" that I am not aware of? This is not a name that was repeated in my family.
