Janis,
I have just looked up IGI. There was a Richard Gilberson bapt. 30 Jun 1765 at Sessay near Easingwold, which includes Hutton Sessay. Could this be 'Hutton Mary Geese'?

I have a M H Wood transcript.  I looked them all up because the town name seemed a bit silly, but that is what it looked like in all the children's baptisms.  I have family born in Cold Knuckles--seemed a silly name also.  the Hutton name was quite clear, the Many part not as clear, but Geese was clear enough.  So it will probably depend on the parish record.

Sorry no RC records.

Janis,
Many thanks; I will nit-pick my way forward! I have picked more children of George Smith and Magdaline Pattison in Trimdon in IGI.

I have the Marriage Bond from DRO :   Durham Diocese 31st December1796, Richard Gilbertson (Farmer), aged 21, of Trimdon obtained a licence to marry Magdalen Smith, aged 21, of Trimdon   Surety: Thomas Potts, of Pittington Hallgarth [Note married 1st January 1797 Trimdon].
I think that the Magdalen Smith Gilbertson that married Peter Barrow in Manchester was their daughter - Bapt 2nd Nov 1797 Trimdon.
They also had a son Richard John Pattison Gilbertson born 21 Oct 1803 & bapt same day at Trimdon. I have him as a Shoemaker, aged 35, on the 1841 census of Durham City (living with ? his wife & children) & on the 1851 at 3 Claypath, St Nicholas, Durham City, aged 47, as a Gardner & Seedsman (sic) who was born St Oswalds, Durham. I cannot find him after 1851.
They also seem to have a daughter Mary Gilbertson born 6 January 1799 & Bapt 12th January 1799 at Trimdon.
I,m happy to go with Sessay as the birthplace but the Hutton Many geese needs more work (Hutton Magna?)

Jackie,
Good to see that you are still working away at the Gullivers; I was going to send you an update when I had got the Gilbersons pinned down but you seem to be ahead of me.
I have got back as far as Matthew/Mattias born about 1740 but am still filling detail; what have you got? I have also been to Tudhoe cemetery and picked up some of the MIs. Suggest that we swap files by e-mail. I am still at terry_fox@y7mail.com
Best wishes,
