Doris Prudence M J Jordan
« on: Saturday 04 March 06 16:16 GMT (UK) »
Please could someone with all the relevant lookups etc assist in tracking down Doris Jordan's parents. She was born 13/02/1913 in Lincolnshire I think & died in August 1995. She married Horace Clark in 1930 just after giving birth to a son Ray Clark. She dies a "Norton" due to a remarriage.

If I could at least get back to the 1901 census then loads of doors open up but at the moment I am really stuck !!!!

I am trying to get my daughters family tree upto date as a present so your assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks for reading

Ian Goddard

Hi Ian,

The complete birth registers are currently free to search here:
http://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/rectype/vital/freebmd/bmd.aspx

The problem being that I can't find her in 1913  ???

I do see a birth in March quarter 1914 for a Doris P M H Jordan, mother's maiden name Short, registration district Boston, Volume 7a page 772

Do you think it could be her?

Sounds too much of a coincidence not to be her. Maybe she lied about her age due to being so young when she had her first child ? Do you know more about her father and where they resided in the 1901 census ???

Well, no. I don't know anything about her.

The first thing to do, I suppose, would be to make sure this is your Doris. You'd have to find her marriage and order the cert, as well as this birth cert. If the father's name on both certs matches, then you'd be likely tracing the right person.

Sorry - the very first thing to do is of course to check the indexes by yourself - I may have missed her after all!
