Dear Doc,
It has been a few years since something has been posted here. I came across this thread by complete accident.
The Percy (Croydon, 1893) that you mention is my great grandfather. He married Mabel F Spicer. I didn't know him, sadly. I don't ever remember meeting my own grandfather - he died when I was very young.
From Ewart to me in the Tearle Yahoo Group back in 2009.
"Now, Percy Charles Tearle, b1893 in Croydon, Surrey, was a son of Frederick
George Tearle b1869 Holloway (London) and Mary Susannah nee White. They had
eight children, born in Croydon and Sutton, Surrey.
Frederick's father was James Tearle b1834 in Dunstable, Beds, and Sarah Ann
nee Jones.
James' father was George 1809 of Wingfield, Beds and his cousin Elizabeth
Tearle.
We have now travelled back to the Tearle ancestral village; George's father
was Richard b1778 of Stanbridge, Beds, and Mary nee Pestel, and Richard's
parents were Joseph 1737 of Stanbridge and Phoebe nee Capp. We can trace
Joseph's parentage back to a John Tearle of Stanbridge b1610."
Ewart did post an 'hour glass' chart for Percy on the Yahoo site but I've lost my copy of it and it doesn't seem to be available in the files any more.
I hope this is helpful and of some interest to you. I'm going to catch up with the rest of this thread now.
Best wishes to you and your family.
Mark Tearle (Sussex, UK)
