Bowey Family
« on: Tuesday 28 February 06 21:30 GMT (UK) »
Hi.
Is anyone searching the  Bowey family.
They originate from the Alnwick district about 1805.
The areas they lived in were.1805 - 1901
Alnham. Ingram. Rothbury. Whittingham.
Slaley, Crawcrook. Ryton. They were farmers and
agricultural labourers.
1841 - 1850 Wallsend.

Looking for Robert Bowey's parents.
He was born about,1806 in Northumberland.
Married. Elizabeth Wilson. 26.9.1830 at Rothbury.
The Wilson name was carried down with some of the children.

                 Thank You.

The earliest Bowie I have in Northumberland is Thomas Bowie and his wife Eleanora. No dates though their daughter was Jane Bowie b 1812 Kirknewton / Wooler.

Jane married Peter Fogo b 1810  and their daughter Mary Fogo b 1849 Kirknewton married my husband's Great Grandfather's brother William Turnbull b 1853 Kirknewton.

I have no other Bowie names or dates unfortunately.

I just thought I would see if there might be some link through Jane

I think Earsdon and Kirknewton are very close to each other so could have some links though I do not have a lot of info on them at the moment

Hi Carol.
Sorry late in answering you. I am in the process of moving
house which will be in about 10 days time.
I haven't had much time to do any research.
I have checked the IGI's to no avail.

   June.

my great aunt Elizabeth Alice Maud Pearson married a William Bowey in 1904 and emigrated to the States in 1905 where they settled in Buffalo, New York.  I don't know anything about the Bowey family and have been trying to trace them - does this match any of your relatives?  Elizabeth was known as Maud and came from the Benwell district of Newcastle.

There's a Mary Ann Boway christened in Rothbury 15 April 1810
Father: Robert Boway
Mother: Ann Davison

It might be worth going north of the border with your search as i remember as a kid in Northumberland a family of Scots Boweys
